holy fuck.

dude,

- add drums
- get a decent metal sound on that guitar
- variate riffs
- solos
- vocalist get the fuck away from that mic
- palm mute ?

just some things that will help in the music.

I mean poison the well is great music, but i can't sense anything from them in it, and eventhough, this is hurting my ears.

I'm 16, and I've been writing music for nearly three years now [only seriously for the past couple of months, though]. I play guitar and compose. I mainly write with softsynth and VSTi's.. which is because I lack decent recording equipment to accomodate decent guitar sounds [hence most of the guitar parts in my music sounding like shit.. VST's have only come so far, and I refuse to use anything recorded with my shitty PC mic and horrible electric guitar rig.. good effects, horrid amp.].

Eh, here's a few of my tracks. They're part of a little project I'm doing; there's more, but I feel these are the strongest. Somewhat unfinished, but pretty damn close. No vocals, and everything was done on a software setup. Pretty diverse in terms of a genre--the tracks I have here range from jazz-like to industrial to ambiental breakbeat rock. ..I guess. Heavily influenced by a whole slew of different artists. They tend to get a bit repetative at times, but that's because I mainly compose by layering on top of a base riff or progression. Eh, I like them, so why not?

Sorry that it's a bunch of Yousendits--I used to have a SoundClick account but I shut it down until I finish what I'm working on now, and I don't feel like finding a server at the moment. Anyway, enjoy, and tell me what you think. Thanks!

Forenote-The drums suck in most/all songs, I know. Drums aren't really the focal point of any of my tracks, so I really don't spend too much time on them, aside from tone.

Stage 2 - Lust and Corruption [Recently redid the ending.]

Stage 4 - Heartache [Newest.]

Stage 5 - Resentment [Fairly old.]

EDIT - hobo, I like your songs, but honestly, "Damp Grass" reminds me of a mix of Eighteen Visions [can't recall the name of the track in particular] and "The Great Gig in the Sky" from Pink Floyd at the beginning, and the solo is also reminiscant of Floyd [notably the second solo from "Comfortably Numb"]. "Shocked" sounds a lot like "Freestyler"/"Sidstyler".

Nice Job man, i like Resentment, the synth kicks teh ass.

The outro rocks, and for the intro, perhaps you couldve better made a less direct intro ?

Isn't the heartagram supposed to be like 500x500 pixels? It just feels wrong that way.

Its really only been the past month or so that I've come back to song writing in any serious kind of way. Gonna do some recording tomorrow so hopefully I can give you guys a taste of what I've been up to. I'm at uni at the minute so I havent been able to listen to the stuff posted in this thread lately, but I'm dying to check out some more music by the forumites :)

Tomorrow I'll probably post the intro to 'Zerg Rush', which is my first ever fully instrumental song... Fiindil mentioned something about a metal song about the Zerg and all of a sudden I had this riff in my head.

I might also post part of a song named 'Amilyn' (if I get time to record it), which I have written most of the music for but am having a hard time with the lyrics.

I have the version of Fruity Loops you have, but I've never been able to figure out how to make the track(s) I'm working w/ go beyond whatever length is given to you when you start up the program. It just loops that length over and over and over, etc.  How do I do that? It's been driving me crazy for the longest time.

Click on the playlist button, first of five of the big buttons to the top right.

Each block you put in counts for one loop of that pattern.
