Title: Minecraft!
Post by: Fallout on October 26, 2010, 10:41:24 pm
This thread was inevitable..

Share your pictures of your Worlds here, and if you're feeling nice, share your worlds here too!

For the non-computer minded, to share your worlds, go to the C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves folder, add the World folder to a RAR or ZIP file, and upload it wherever, but I suggest http://www.mediafire.com/.

EDIT: If you haven't already seen this, then make a Cartograph (http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=13134) of your level!

Isometric: [note - the world is explored so far in each direction because of the epic tunnel systems that I used for mining - the main area of construction is the centre]
(http://i53.tinypic.com/34j9fe8_th.png) (http://i53.tinypic.com/34j9fe8.png)

Flipped:
(http://i55.tinypic.com/mbl8cz_th.png) (http://i55.tinypic.com/mbl8cz.png)

EDIT: Now download my World (http://www.mediafire.com/?l6eod6xi8eadcs6)!

Oh my god, I built a wall that is 18 stone blocks high, and goes around my base for like 80*80 squares. Yes its over 5000 mined stoneblocks

Ill get pictures soon
Title: Re: Minecraft!
Post by: Fallout on October 26, 2010, 11:35:07 pm
its over 9000!
FTFY.

Well, Included in my level is:

A to-scale 4-toed foot statue from LOST, including the room hidden inside/under it,
A to-scale full-size tribute to Tetris,
A ~10x10 excavation to the very bottom of the level, with a giant tap pouring lava into the centre,
A Lava tower that reaches the top of the level,
A Water tower that reaches the top of the level,
A glass bridge connecting the two towers,
A platform/bridge at the bottom where the two towers drain off into the volcano below, in infinite battle for domination,
A floating tree farm,
A cove/cave base with dock outside, a huge hall for a workroom, fully fitted bedroom and bathroom, and catacombs,
A giant cube structure,
A moon-pool cubed,
Various mob spawner trap designs,

And probably a few things I forgot.

The cartographer makes my giant world have crap resolution. Here is a pic of my ginormous tree and a piece of the wall instead.  :)

Its only cheating if you break the rules, and there was only one: Make a giant trinity in minecraft. And I did ;)

Still, I could have done it in alpha too, but I wanted to use black.

Look up Dokus Texture Pack if you want to make the game prettier. It makes the world look like Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

There's also the Painterly pack, but I'm not a fan of HD textures on giant blocks.

I love the look of that Doku's texture pack, but sadly I've already gotten used to the look of the game and it would utterly confuse me to change it :(

I actually like the current textures anyway.

Everyone seems to develop some sort of OCD thing where they make everything symmetrical in Minecraft.
I really dont. As a result, my constructions look more like something some sort of cross between a mad scientist and a 6 year old built.

My tower needs another room? Add one on the side there. It'll be fine.  Pool? Glass room stuck on the side of the thing will work nicely. Make another tower? Make tons of sky bridges criss-crossing everywhere.

Then i show my heavily Minecraft-OCD afflicted friends the place and they makes strangeled noises and hides shivering in a corner whispering "The blocks, the blocks are all wrong, we're all going to die the blocks are wrong"

Having non-symmetrical buildings is way more awesome and fun to build, I dont get it why people do it either, lol.

IIRC, when an admin/operator, you could do a certain command that fills the entire space between two coördinates with blocks

The command is: /cuboid

Then build block in spot A, build block in spot B and DONE. All the blocks in between are there.

Anyone building huge buildings should look into that! You can do it with 3D shapes too, like a cubus, just type the command, and build blocks in the three spots you need to create the cubus!

I looked at it and instantly thought "2D MINECRAFT!1". If it's worth the hype, I might splash out, just like I did with Minecraft. I want to see some actual, non-segmented gameplay footage though. Trailers are annoying.

EDIT: Went on youtube and and am now seriously considering buying it. When I get some money, I will definitely splash some cash!

Yeah that's true. I'll have to use Windows 7 (or at least some version of Windows) for schoolwork anyway, so it won't be TOO much hassle. It's just booting in and out of an operating sys just to play a game is annoying...

If they do port it to mac though (I read somewhere that they are maybe thinking about it) then that would be awesome.
