Title: Rock Band Network, will MaSu get on the bandwagon?
Post by: FAMAS on July 17, 2009, 09:07:06 pm
The guys and gals at Harmonix are releasing a new feature in Rock Band: The Rock Band Network. It will enable artists and labels to create their own songs and get them on sale in a special store after a peer review process. The first thing that came to my mind was "Machinae Supremacy in Rock Band!" Obviously I think this would ba phenomenal, and considering the band's history with video games and innovative marketing, it sounds completely feasible!

Edit: got merged in another thread. Oh well. Btw, my doomsday scenario is as follows: since the feature will only be implemented on Xbox for the time being, only popular songs will be available to PS3 players (namely, me). Potential MaSu songs might not make the cut :'(

I heard about this earlier and the first thing I thought was... "Machinae Supremacy in Rock Band?!?!" I think I would die if I could play some MaSu tracks.

Thought this exact thing and ran back here to the forums, but I see this topic has already been made   :) If you can, make this happen! The custom songs are a blast, but a full band thing would be epic

Indeed, this thing is a highly interesting announcement. Being able to play a song like "Return to Snake Mountain" or "Elite" would most likely be very joyful.

Sometimes, being a 360 player has its advantages. ^-^

We need some pro's to make the stuff. We take care of the music but we can't really do the other shit since we don't play any GH or Rockband ourselves.

Also, me and Gaz was discussing re-recording old songs for Rockband.

Do we have any pro's here @ the forum?

Post by: LymphoCite_T on July 30, 2009, 07:54:20 pm
on scorehero there are 14 custom song charts of ma'su.
GH and rockband charts seem to be similiar.

i made myself about 10 charts, 5 0f them were put to scorehero bcuz they didn't suck.

i make coop for gtr and (rhythm or bass) charts, so more thingsorz needed like drums (x)or vocal.

i tend to make charts, not pitch-wise, but as guitar-wise as it's only possible (sometimes i exaggerate -OW expert slides  :P)

but don't call me pro - avg time i take to make 1 chart is about... 5 months!
and... the f*** i need bpm-s! and very likely to GP tabs :P
the bad thing about it is that no forumers want to tell me bpms, and i huv no good s0ftw4r3 to bpm-figure-out xor measures-figure-out.

also try hunting for nintend0g0d. idk if he's forumer, but he is tr00 pr0

I play a lot of teh Rock Band on drumz or guitarz wif vocalz (2ge4!). Drum charts would be a piece of cake I think, the rest of them wouldn't be a problem either, at least if the band would give some help. The only real problem is that i'm banned on xbox live. :D
I'd be glad to help in any possible way to make MaSu rule our consoles.
Title: Re: Rock Band Network
Post by: LymphoCite_T on July 31, 2009, 04:41:45 pm
it's possible to make more in short time, but there could be some helpful things like bpm or videos with recorded "how we play it" (just recording of guitarists/drummers, not guide ofcoz  ^-^). if other people (other than me) want to chart, i suggest using feedback (http://www.dotblip.com/feedback/). if u re advanced, you may use eg reaper midi built in editor + metallicahero chart converter by leff.

so, dezo, what do we do now? i personally have no PC to work on, cuz my one is broken... need to buy new (but no cash :/). my little bro has PC, but he doesnt let me use it ( >:().
will masu hire ppl to work with feedback? hmm...

Hes actually considered doing a custom WT chart for Hero, but dropped it since making the Vocal part is near impossible. Now that this is out, he may interested and would probably love to do it.

However, as good as he is and as much as he'd love to do it, hes just one guy and doing an entire chart, all difficulties, all instruments, effects, ect. might be a little large for him, or it will take a long time. I'll still bring it up to him next time I see him.

The band can also look into places like this, http://www.rhythmauthors.com/ they seem to be formed by a collection of the top scorehero charters. It even looks like Marillion (for all you Prog fans) has dubed them worthy  = )

Sorry to bring up an old thread to life, but I figured it was better than to start a new one.

How's the RBN project coming up? I noticed that MaSu is mentioned in the Official Rock Band Network thread in the RockBand-forums. There's lots of information regarding the RBN and it's tools in the forum, so I figured I'd point it out if it has somehow escaped your attention.

Here's a link: http://www.rockband.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=41

Hope this helps :)

Well I wasn't a forumer before, but now I TOTALLY am!! Lymph, I'm flattered :)
I was so ecstatic when my friend FB'd this to me...I'm really honored and humbled that people still like my charts (of which I haven't made any more for about a year, lol).
It'd be a blast to be able to do this for MaSu if it's in their best interests.

As for how I make charts, I try to do as much by ear as possible. First, I start out by figuring out the different tempos & meter changes and then laying notes the notes down. (thank you MaSu for consistent tempos!!!) I'm currently in the midst of a music and cello performance degree, so my theory/partwriting and composition skills are a little improved from last time :P
Also, I have perfect pitch so that'll help massively when charting vox.
If I find something particularly hard to discern, I'll find a guitar tab or drum chart, preferably from the band themselves at this site.

Back in the day, I could pump out an expert-only co-op chart for GH3 in less than a few hours (once I learned how to copy/paste in feedback, lol).
Naturally, figuring out the RB software and putting in the charts for other difficulties will take some more time, but I could probably get in a chart every two weeks or so if I'm not extremely busy. Of course, this frequency can increase over the summer :)

I really would LOVE to do this!!

And btw, greetings everyone! Long time fan & follower, now first time poster. Since RBN had been announced, I was looking forward to having some MASU in my Rock Band, this did even influence my decision to go with a 360 rather than the PS3. And Apparently other people are still waiting eagerly for this to happen - as the recent thread on the rockband.com forums shows. That's also why I sincerely hope this doesn't count as necroposting. So, any (encouraging) news on this?

Title: Re: Rock Band Network
Post by: evilcandybag on October 28, 2011, 03:43:45 pm
Yes, but since the RBN creation kit is in Microsoft XNA, conversion to a PS3-compatible format will need to be done in-house and this is only done for titles which are deemed worthy of a conversion.

IMICP has been out on the 360 for about a week now.  Force Feedback is in RBN for peer review; it looks like Rocket Dragon will come sometime after that.

I guess that you can help that cause by showing Harmonix just that, go and like the song on Facebook, share on Reddit, Twitter or whatnot. If we do it from their site, they'll see that people actually want it.

Link to the RBN entry: http://www.rockband.com/songs/UGC_5008731

Use the like and share buttons there to create buzz that is easy for Harmonix to see!

Lol, I don't know why no one announced it majorly, even on the forums really. I don't own rock band, so I can't actually play it for myself (and therefore didn't really get hyped up about them being on it) but it would seem pretty big if it were me.

So have I! And I'm delighted that this is finally happening! The whole RBN-full-featured-ness was my reason to go with a 360, so I would always have access to all the content and wouldn't ever be sweating and hoping that certain songs are made available for PS3. :(

I like to think I'm pretty good at expert guitar on Rock Band (I can five-star almost everything, RB1&2 exported + ~400 USD worth of DLC), and I would just like to say that Force Feedback is fucking impossible for me. I do pretty well up until all the hammer-ons, at which point everything just falls apart and I fail. I'll keep at it, and one day I may be able to play it. Perhaps it'll become one of those songs I avoid for half a year or so and when I come back to it I find it isn't as hard to play as I remember. (I did this with "Flirtin' with Disaster." There was a time when I would fail it; now I can gold it.)

As for Indiscriminate Murder and Rocket Dragon, I five-star those pretty consistently now that I've had some time to practice them a bit. I've still yet to gold either of them; I'm working on that.

Gibli, you have my undying respect. If these songs are this hard to play with buttons, I can't imagine how hard they'd be on actual strings.
