Title: Your name, alt.
Post by: Laser.T on October 17, 2004, 05:48:55 pm
If you had the effort to change it by depoll, what would you *seriously* rename yourself?

I would change my spelling to just 'Kriss', so that it is official rather than just a whim.

I've considered renaming myself to Bearfoot IRL.  However, the problem is that it'd ruin something very unique about me.

My name is Benjamin Eugene Nelson... my innitals are B.E.N.

I'm the only person I know who's innitals spell thier name.

My parents claim it was delibrate, but I don't beleive them.

eh, wouldn't want to change my name really, Sean just has that feeling about it, i'm too used to it, tho if i had to change it to something else (i'd just still have to have a Gaelic name, cos they rule) it'd either be Eoin (Owen) or Seamus (Shay-Muss). they just look cool!

I'm probably going to end up changing my name to Chad, although I wouldn't want people I don't know calling me that. I've also seriously thought about changing my name to Nicholas, but I don't think Kasumi likes that idea.

I don't like disagreeing with you, but you'd need a name that wouldn't confuse the hell out of people...
A name not only has to sound nice, but it's functional. If you had a guy's name it would cause all sorts of problems :(

*shrugs* The guys at work didn't get freaked when I mentioned it, at least I hope they didn't. I don't see how it could cause problems. My CV has my gender on it so getting a job wouldn't be hard, and people could call me Nick for short and thats kinda a girls name too....

Fairy snuff, but not everyone isn't as smart as the people you're fortunate to work with.

I'm just guessing, but you could have problems sorting it out. I think you need to declare yourself as TS if you want a name for the opposite sex.

yeah, a friends friend did something like that too. Not that strange, though...I think he first went for a latin name, and then changed a second time to something sounding more 14th century italian. Marco Polo-style-thingy...

But I know of this one guy with a really fancy name. And it's what he was given at birth...

Rogerio Luis Ferreira Nunes Fernando Dominigues Alfeira Borthen Greve Olson Snarli...

Really...that's a cool name...

Krilos Nereth, my role playing name. The only decent name I ever came up with.

I have a guys name and everyone always expects me to be a girl... Feh. I really don't see how they think Jan is a girl's name.

I always thought Seamus was a cool name too, too easy to say wrong though :/ sounds so cool when you say it "Shay-muss" though.. when i heard it in "Andromeda" (old series on sky 1) i instantly thought the guy with that name 0wned. cuz he was a hacker guy and i could relate to that ^__^

assuming they're bulgarain of course........or at least european at least

hmmmm, might consider my name IRL to Smeagol, or Fiindil (i spend too much time playing RPG's, they're normally the two names i use unless i have to have a 2nd name, like in NWN)

I can spend hours on RPG's - just thinking up the perfect name. I once got a piece of paper and wrote every possibility I thought of in 3 hours before I decided and finally started the game.

Could be worse, a friend of mine was nearly named "Thor" by his hippie mother.

She settled for Josh.

I'd change it to James. Because my parents cheated me out of that name. :P

Thor is a good name. It feels like you are an irish viking pirate type people that go and burnanate villages and stuff.

As for RPGs and game names I usually just use:
 - Stinky
Don't know why, I find it funny when people come running toward you then say something like "Stinky!" and it is all like lol they don't even know what they are saying because they are a computer and should stop downling.

Actually, when I first met Josh he wouldn't have fit the name Thor.  But now that I think about it.. he's near six feet tall and he used to be fat and dumpy.. he got really really really buffed out and shaved his head.. :P

Only when he's wearing a metal helmet and brandishes a huge metal hammer that causes thunder and lightning, will he fit the name of Thor.

On MMOs I tend to use the name Ouroboros. It's rad, especially when people come up and go "DUR WHATS UR NAME TEH MEEN??!?"

Pets, what pets names anybody thinkin of?
Title: Re:Your name, alt.

Naming a pet is a very important thing to me.  It should have some meaning.  So when and If I get a pet I'm not going to decide ahead of time to name it something.

I'd wind up with something like my friend's cat Cyric.  NOw, for those of you who don't play DnD Cyric is a god of murder, death and trechery.

Cyric the cat is extremely obese and nurotic and gets beaten up regulary by a cat that's literally about 1/5th his size....

Not thought about pets. There hasn't been a pet in our house for years...

I don't plan to get a pet myself either. Even though I love animals, I do'nt trust myself to look after one - i'd be worried that it was ok all the time and be scared. Plus, remember my thing about death - a hamster or goldfish would not be good pets for me.

If I did have pets I might consider calling them by one part of their latin name. Felis, Canis, Orcytolagus...

Spot. Named after Data's Felis Catus. Cannot go wrong with that cat name.

If I were to change my name it'd have to have Garrett somewhere in it. Because it's such a cool name.

GERALD   m
Usage: English
Pronounced: JER-awld
From a Germanic name meaning "rule of the spear", from the element ger "spear" combined with wald "rule". This name was brought to Britain by the Normans.

Post by: Laser.T on October 22, 2004, 09:46:15 pm
Jer-awld?

Sounds weird.

I would say: Je-reld

awld implies it sounding like Auld, as in Auld Lang Syne.
Jerawld.

Auld Lang Syne.

i hate that! especially when it's a good New Year's Eve party where EVERYONE gets hammered (including a bunch of little kids :P) cos then it gets to the stage where i can barely stand up, and then start slurring and fall asleep on some stairs when i get home (all happened.....i have some strange relatives :P)

And so you hate Auld Lang Syne because you got pissed and barely got home?

I think tha'ts a little unfair. I mean, what did the song do?
