Title: Machinae Live DVD?
Post by: Fallout on September 04, 2011, 08:58:06 pm
If there is sufficient support, we can make this shit happen. Whether it's released officially by the band or whether we have an expert video editing person here, if we can get hold of the footage, we can make a live DVD happen for all the fans in countries that have not yet been blessed by Machinae's noodly appendages.

"video editing person" I about 1/200 people needed to throw something like this off.
It's not a bad idea,  but the costs would be atleast around 10.000 euros.

I would pay 100 EUR if I got my name in the credits ;D

If the footage from the Assembly gig comes pre-edited, it would essentially only take one well-contacted person to get the ball rolling. For all we know, Rob may be able to do it himself. I've sent him a PM on Facebook asking of the possibility of something like this. I'd love to be part of helping this happen, so hopefully he'll be as excited about the idea as I am :)

Speaking of throwing money at the band, Rob - Y U NO MAKE DONATE BUTTON? I would gladly donate money if it went directly to the band :D

It would be awesome to include an entire gig, and also some interviews and bonus stuff :)

Hey everyone!

You will soon be able to view and/or download the full Machinae Supremacy concert from our gig at Assembly in Helsinki this August. It will be a high quality video shot with numerous cameras.

All of this is possible thanks to the hard work of the Assembly crew and organisers. A big thanks to them.

Coming soon! Hang in there! And when you get it, gather some friends, grab something to drink and some snacks, then turn up the volume and sit back and enjoy.

More info about release date and where to view/download will come in a few days.

i hope it's compressed with good codec :)

It'll be compressed with x264, two pass, 6.9 Mbps. Audio will be 192Kbps, 16 bit, 48Khz stereo. Resolution will be 720p25.

The 6.9 Mbps bitrate will result in a 4GB file.

Does that sound good enough? Some (but not all) source material is DVCPROHD 1080i50, so I could export 1080i50 version later if there's enough demand.

192kbps audio? If you're going for 6.9mbps video, at least make the audio a decent quality - that's the best bit anyway!

(EDIT: For "decent", I would suggest minimum 320kbps MP3, lossless would result in another gigabyte maybe of size, but it would be worth it for downloading.)
(EDIT 2: 1080i would be awesome, I vote for that if anyone else wants that and you are willing to render and upload it)

The audio is AAC, not MP3, that gives better bang for the same bitrate. But I guess I could make that 256 Kbps AAC.

I know AAC gives better "bang for bitrate" (have you heard about HE-AAC, I encode all my music for my iPod at 80kbps, yes, 80, and it sounds awesome) but if you're going to make a video with almost 7mbps, why skimp on audio? The filesize is pretty massive regardless.

EDIT: If you offer up a 1080 version, could you put lossless audio in that one instead?

Heheh. I don;t know why Socra doesn't want it, I mean, why not? My iPod doesn't play videos, so how do I play the Assembly gig while I'm in the car or on a train? I can't unless somebody (or myself) rips [what looks to be a a low quality encoding anyway] a [lower quality!] version of it and splits it into shorter tracks.

EDIT: I just went on TPB, and I was wondering, what is of "Machinae Supremacy Live Jönköping"? Is this a live DVD also, fan made maybe?
Title: Re: Machinae Live DVD?

The gig in Jönköping was filmed, but there was no official release of the footage. Thus, it must be fan made.

Fair enough. Because I'm downloading a Jönköping 4.07 .iso file but there are no seeders. I was wondering, if it was official or someone had it on these forums, then they could reseed. I want to see if the quality of the footage is any good and if I should actually continue downloading it...

Let me add my own heresy on that. Sure, gig video in high quality is uber awesome and we all can't wait for it, but do you really enjoy listening to gig recordings alone with all those people shouting in the back, recordings that will never even come close in terms of quality to studio records?

I mean, I never did D:

You're like my mum. "Why bother going to live shows when they sound better on the record."

Because they are different. Maybe not as quality or as polished, but still good, and I for one like listening to good quality bootlegs etc. on my iPod. Especially on good quality speakers/headphones, the vibe can easily be retained, and they sound brilliant.

Yes, even without an official lossless audio copy, I will still make my own audio rip for my iPod, but the distortion and artefacts that appear when making a lossy->lossy conversion could be eradicated with a copy straight from the source, hence why I asked.

Actually, I do. I prefer to listen live recordings because, In my opinion, they better express the band and its style and feeling than studio recordings.

The reason I asked if a live recording was available dude - was because personally I DO prefer live recordings.

I think they showcase the band in a better light, and especially with a metal band, gives them a rawer feel.

Yes they were. The Machinae Supremacy live at Assembly Summer 2011 was a pure AssemblyTV / LiveCrew production :)

So, has everyone involved with actually making the video happen, completely fallen asleep?

I suck at G+. But I've had a lot to do lately. Everyone can look forward to two quality pieces of content coming your way soon...

There's the live footage from Assembly 2011, which is 80 minutes of pure live performance -- the most pro recording of any MaSu gig so far -- and then of course there is the matter of the still unreleased Winland Tour 2010 on-the-road-movie from last year.

Stay alert. They're about to hit the net within 2-3 weeks.

If I can't get it because I'm not allowed on Google+, I will go crazy. Stupid fucking age limits. If it is a G+ exclusive (or it's there first), someone better shoot me a link.
