Title: lets talk about strings.
Post by: wettestwillie on April 29, 2011, 05:43:43 pm
So I've been playing guitar for about 8 years, and over the years you start to hear the difference between newer strings and strings that are a few weeks/months old. I recently picked up my first FR guitar and have been recording with it a whole bunch, and I'm very unhappy with the length of time between when the strings have a good sound, and when they start to dull out. (usually about a week before I start hearing it). I have been using ernie ball regulars, but I was wondering if anyone knew of some strings that last longer.

TL;DR What strings do you use, how long do they last before sounding shitty?

Also, anyone know what strings MaSu use?

Elixir are my favs for the moment. They last pretty long due to some leet coating stuff which also give 'em a pretty "soft" feel. Some people think they are a bit slippery though.
Machinae are endorsed by Knucklehead Strings.

Till now I've used D'Addario 10-46 and Ernie Ball 12-46. The latter are damn too hard.

I use Ernie Ball 10s in all my guitars :) They're fairly cheap here in Norway, and they last for a fair amount of time :)
