Title: "The next album may be ready in 2012"
Post by: Fallout on April 03, 2011, 01:04:07 pm
Just to tease y'all who haven't heard the news. As most of us know, the guys wrote twice as many songs as they needed for EotW. This means we will eventually hear most of these. Don't get me wrong, these songs will by no means be "leftovers", they simply did not fit the theme and style of EotW.

So anyway, I will use this thread to trickle out bits of info about the next album, as and when I am allowed to. Same goes to other people who know stuff (from meeting the band etc). - don't just drop a bomb and reveal everything you know at once. We don't want any brains melting (or the band hating us for trusting us)

Don't ever became like Korpiklaani! They are releasing a new album every year and they all sound the same.
EotW was a great idea, it's atmosphere were showing us the future we face, we run out water, oil and food shortly, but most of my friends couldn't catch it.

If I were you, I would make a short single with 3 tracks and a revolutionlike intro about the arabian awakening

well masu has released redeemer 2006, overworld 2008 and eotw 2010 so thats pretty much 2 years or lil over between albums. :)

I think the reason the next album may be done so fast is because the band went through a very creative period and wrote way too many songs than they needed for EotW. I know for a fact that they are pretty much settled on an album name and have quite a bit of the meat of writing the songs done so far.

I don't expect it to sound exactly the same as EotW, I expect them to make decisions as artists along the way to releasing the next album to change the songs as they develop, and to purposefully choose a different dynamic to their last album.

If you figure that the songs that didn't make EotW didn't because they didn't fit the theme and sound of the album, surely that is enough to derive that the next album will sound different? ;)

And totally different-sounding to any EotW songs. I heard one very very sid-heavy track.. so much so that I can't remember any guitars. But I was quite drunk, so I may have been imagining things. ;)

A new album at the end of 2012 wouldn't surprise me, to be honest! November 2010 - Q4 2012 isn't very special, even more so if the band says they already have good materiaal. Is there any source for that btw? Where does this come from?

This is just a prank. EotW will be the last album they release, anything else would be a breach of continuity.

If this is true, I really don't understand. The band often said that they wanted to concentrate on new songs, when people asked for CD-releases or remixes of website releases.

Now that's pretty exciting. \o/ Can't wait to hear it.

Though I think the original recording and mix of Hero is quite well done.
I'd rather see like Origin or Nemesis getting the treatment. :]

I think this would be because Hero is the best song in the world (that they made).

It won't just be a re-recording, it will be a new version of the song entirely. We have new band members now that will probably put their personal stamp on the age-old classic. This isn't going to be Hero as you know it, it will be something much, much better.

With all the extra tracks they made I'm sure they're wanting to put them out for our ears. That and with all the amazingness that is going on with them on tour and probably getting a lot of new fans. The creativity must be on a high right now. I can't wait to see what happens in the next chapter of MaSu!

Well, I doubt they'd come all the way to the U.S. just to meet with fans, but they've previously laid to rest my doubts of their awesomeness, so maybe they'll do it again. ::) I meant I'd be willing to make a trip to somewhere (preferably in the somewhere near the center of the country) to meet up with a bunch of MaSu fans for like a weekend-long (LAN) party or something.

The only real reason I'd ever want remakes of the old school Site Releases is to hear what the maturation of a few years and multiple studio albums might do to the way they play them now, compared to then.

Also, for the higher quality recordings and >FLAC audio bitrates.

Maybe he combined the two by breaking in a setting up a really powerful directional antenna that points to his place. That way, he could connect and spy on the band's computer-based activities from the comfort of his home, and without having to park his car out on the street looking conspicuous and what-not. :P

On-topic: With news of a Hero remake/rewrite, I was already prepared to have my mind blown when the album showed up on my doorstep after release. Great news. I love it.
Epicness of old school MaSu having a new feel about it sounds just fan-fucking-tastic.
Agreed with previous statement of all songs pre-DXM being remade.

So I am going to throw this question yet again if they're going to be going radical: "how about some Swedish lyrics?"

Sorry, I just had to.

I don't like it when a parody band like Nanowar write lyrics in their mothertongue only, but at serious tracks it's epic. Fintroll says swedish is a troll language, so write a track about trolls in swedish. :D

but it's true, dutch is one of the most hard languages to learn in the world so we're trolling those without skill

I don't know Dutch really, but I have never heard of it being one of the hardest languages. So, what is exactly difficult in it? (I mean, I always figured it might be similar to German. As for vocabulary this should be true, but I have no idea what kind of grammar you use. But I don't think that it's so different from other Germanic languages, or is it? Explain yourself.)

It depends on your mothertongue which languases sound trollish for you. I'm hungarian, so for me some german languages sounds like that. It's interesting, for outsiders finnish and hungarian sounds similar, but for me it's funny as the others in the skandinavian region.
The hardest language is icelandic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_volcanoes_in_Iceland) and welsh (Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu) as far as I know.

It's not exactly the hardest to learn; it is the hardest to learn the right, ehm, tongue movement things. You know, as in, chinese people saying l instead of r.

well, i heard that czech is the hardest (like hundreds of exceptions from rule and shit (anyway, at least, the only one with ř... and by shit i mean mashup of declinations, conjugations, plurals, passives - makes latin look like childs play))  -  i guess everyone's own (language) is the biggest or hardest in the end :D

//japanese has lots of characters, chinese is little harder, since it has lots (read as great shitloads) of characters and also tonal accents - therefore, the chinese is probably the most intimidating

The only thing I don't like in folk metal that most of them are hardly nacionalists
so, hungary is really full of the country proudness, as they say? (mostly the timid slovakians but who cares? :D)
well, as far as i know, we have some nationalist folkers here (there's even more in the Russian/Ukrainian region) - but it is more like folk black, which might or might not suit you
- i am not surprised, that people, who sing about vikings ain't all national, since you really must be brain damaged by alcohol or from birth to take it seriously :D (check amon amarth or ensiferum and you'll know - i mean, they have merchandise like figures with bobbing heads)

and last but not least - yay for the new album - personally i hope, that there'll be less facebook and CoD and more free culture ;)

Chinese is indeed intimidating but is easy to learn once you know the oral basics.

that sounds so awfully wrong lol

But I guess is also a matter of national pride.

Czeh is exactly the same as slovakian, and don't have any special character either. Their neighbours, the polish speak a more difficult one. Zmrzlna!! 8)

But how much of that work was actual recording? I was under the impression that they had simply written too much material for A View and never recorded what they didn't use. I am occasionally wrong, though.

i don't think the polish is so difficult (i never tried it though - but my friend knows a little and never said it was too hard)
well, there is probably overall problem with the slavic languages for people who speak germanic (english, german etc.) ones

actually, hungarian looks hard too, since it doesn't look like anything else that i am used to see(well, it is more obscure than hard then :D)

slovakian is very alike to czech, but it IS simpler, since they based it on a dialect of theirs and didn't play around with it so much while having to speak german...

maybe the rest of the band wanted to hand the bass parts to mr. SID - and dezo agreed

which would mean moar sid = fans drooling all over their keyboards

I love it when rob throws in a little something like that. I imagine he's totally not used to screaming vocals as it does take a lot of training, so he would only ever growl out of sheer excitement - I don't think he would never plan to. Growling or screaming mid-song can screw your throat up for an entire gig if you're not trained.

I for one would love an occasional grunt or growl. I think if used in moderation it just shows passion for what you do.

Powametalonly people think that glowling can only be done like Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Iniquity or Six Feet Under. But if you recall as Rob screamed "as I rock the microfone!" in sidstyler, with some practice it could be done to a more persistent and clean sounding. Many bands try it for once (Celesty for example).

I love screamo, I really do. I'm a kind of screamo connoisseur, I only listen to very good types of screaming. However, I really really would object to Machinae having growling or screaming in their music on a regular basis. A friend of mine suggested the same thing about Kamelot, and I feel the same way there. I think screamed vocals can enhance music, but only in the right situations. Some bands are that right situation, so all-screamed lyrics from bands like August Burns Red actually sounds good. But for Machinae, I think that even a small amount of regular screamed vocals would just sound out of place. I believe the most "screamed" vocals I've ever heard from MaSu is actually the background voice at the beginning of the solo to Sidstyler. It fit just fine there, because it was not very forefront, it was background. Forefront screamed vocals would simply seem out of place when placed with Machinae's music.

Just my opinion though of course :)

It's no problem if Rob screams 1 or 2 lines in 5 songs or so, but like I said, I wouldn't think MaSu would sound better if it if ALL the vocals were screamed. It's not that I'm implying that Rob can't scream, I just don't like screamo hehe :)

It would sound stupid, that's why I said just some lines should be glowled. (Why always screamo?? It's such a famous genre? I never heard of it before listened to the opening of Kaiji S2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hu10qOG3_c0))

i mean, with that  band it'd totally ruin the experience
