Hello,
I've been thinking about something... many of the songs published by Machinae Supremacy on the web are genius... but some of them could be even better, if professionally produced.
And listening to the last MaSu album, I thought... whether it would be possible to record some of the tracks again and publish it on a separate album. I picked the songs that, in my opinion, would profit most from being recorded another time. I also had an idea of how the album should look like (below).
These are the front and rear covers.
I would like to know what do you think about such an album.
And, above all, It would be an honour to me if the band members would comment on my idea.
-
Spelling *Machinae Supremacy correctly might be a good start, haha.
-
Hmm, rerecording the webography onto an album has been mentioned/begged for many times before, but you've actually put a little effort into it (good), though failed at spelling (bad). Despite going for a rather clichéd reference to "the Web" (bad) the cover looks good (good). It's a good choice of songs too (good), if a little short (I don't think even Spinefarm could get away with releasing an album of only 9 tracks all of which have been available for years before) (bad) - plus, you should know that Fury is already exists on a CD: the Redeemer Underground Edition.
It'd be cool to see everybody's attempts at making an album for their own selection of the webography
-
Looking quite alright (exept from spelling), though i'd radher have new songs...
Exept for maybe a re recorded Earthbound.
-
Yes, that's right, I made a mistake, a bad one xD Sorry for that.
Fury is on my 'compilation' for purpose. I also thought about putting Empire there;) After all, it wouldn't be a bad idea for you to propose other songs to this 'project'. But I think that all the songs I've chosen ARE worth recording another time, even though Fury is already on RU.
Plus, propose a title to this kind of compilation.
Thanks for consructive feedback;)
One more thing: this compilation could be also a part of a double album, if only MaSu would consider such a possibility.
-
Fury already got redone too - the one currently in the webography is Fury 2007, with a few subtle differences from the RUE version.
My webography album would include:
* Hero
* Arcade
* The Wired
* Winterstorm
* Earthbound
* Follower
* Hubnester Inferno
* Origin
* Anthem Apocalyptia
* March of the Undead (ptII)
With the intro track being an extended version of Derelict, and having Cryosleep as a bonus track. I was gonna say Reanimation as the title until I remembered Linkin Park already took that and raped it, the bastards. It's taking too long to think of a title, I'll just post now.
-
Exept for maybe a re recorded Earthbound.
Earthbound HAS to be included! ^^
And I really liked the albumtitle, quite ingenious of you :)
-
could we have a single called "spiderman"?
-
could we have a single called "spiderman"?
Or "Spider Steve"! :O

Were these comments really necessary?
This is only a project of the cover. And the idea behind it is more important than whether there is Peter Parker on the cover or not.
There is yet another reason why I thought of such a compilation. As you can see, there are no instrumental tracks included in my set.
A couple of years have passed since some of the songs from "Webography" were recorded. Frankly speaking, I think that Mr Stjärnström has made a large progress in singing since then, what is noticable on Redeemer and even more on Overworld. And because Mr Stjärnström sings much better now than he did in the past, I think that many of the songs would profit from that fact.
I don't want to be offensive and I'm really sorry if I am, but that is my opinion.

well, to be fair, i think the title and/or cover is somewhat cliche.calling an album "the web" and then having the artwork as a spider weaving a web, idk, just seems a bit..obvious?
not hating on the idea though, i'd love a web release..release. [:

Harmless banter, I'm sure.
-
My webography album would include:
...
And mine would include all the songs. I would imagine the band and a lot of the fans would prefer they work on new material though.
I remember this being brought up in the past before, along with the request for everything in FLAC. One out of two is a good start - maybe something to look forward to on the 10th anniversary of masu or something like that?
-
I'd like to hear remakes or even new interpretations of some of the old songs. Maybe Machinae could add them as bonus tracks to their albums. Like the "now with two bonus tracks only for the Japanese market" thing quite a few metal bands are doing.
-

Did they offend you?
Mr Stjärnström
This makes me giggle.
-
hmmh why spend time to record old songs again when they can make new ones. that beats me
-
Because it'd be cool to hear a new take on an old song. Even if it's just one, would be a good way to show how the band's progressed.
</opinion>
-
Exactly. The songs mentioned at the very beginning are very good, but they can still be improved, and I think that they're worth it.
I think that the idea of a double album consisting of fresh songs and old ones isn't that bad;) or am I wrong?
-
Hmm... I love the old songs as well, but I don't think the band should put too much effort into them. I'd rather have another great album with new songs...
But it'd be really cool if some day when they're uber famous, they released a Machinae World Tour Live DVD that also had some new and improved live versions of the old songs.
-
To have all MaSu songs on CD would be great,
so I'd really appreciate a webrelease-album..
I like the idea of a double album
-
Mr Stjärnström
This makes me giggle.
OSNAP! XD
I LOL'ed
-
Why do you want the band to spend time rehashing old songs, when they could be trying new techniques and styles on new ones and progressing as a band?
I'm with mumpman on this one.
-
New songs > Remastering.
But I do fancy Bates idea very much!
That would be awesome!

Yup, that was a better mix of songs.

I haven't seen rob post on this forum for ages. :[

actually remastering the old songs doesnt help they would be needed to recorded again and that takes time so no... moar new songs let the olds songs be as they are they own very uberly and making new versions would change them too much
hey dimmie we finally agree on something :D

Did you have to say it so bluntly? You have destroyed our hopes! :(

There were none to begin with.

Can we get married now? :D

Hopes were destroyed, and the ensuing offtopicness cleaned up any remains. That's my cue to rain lockage down upon this thread.
