Title: Tracker Music
Post by: Bocom on February 12, 2008, 09:02:24 pm
Everybody who likes tracker music (FT2, MilkyTracker etc.), raise your hands and comment!

*raises hand*

I, for one, love tracker music. Chiptunes och MODs/XMs are so awesome!

Some are really touching (imho), some are just plain awesome (Smooth a.k.a. Silicon "Valley"? and also known as Hero, made by mr. Rob himself. ^_^), and some are... well... made by me (Milky Arpeggios. ;P)

Right now, I am listening to a tracked version of "Jag vill ha en egen måne", and it's so awesomely beatiful, again, imho.

I learned music on computer with trackers, especially Modplug Tracker (which's named OpenMPT now).
I love chiptunes or demostyle. And what I like with trackers is that it's almost possible to make anything. And it rocks. :)
Since I'm on a mac, I can't realy track, although Milkytracker is compatible, but I don't like it that much. And it sucks. :(
But trackers rock. :)

I really love it. I've got 800 tracked songs downloaded, not including game music and High Voltage SID Collection. :)

What amazes me is that you'll find everything from classical chiptunes and funky game music to instrumental, new age, and even metal genres. In fact, though I adore chiptunes, I mostly listen to tracked music for "magical" themes.

Some of my favs (chiptunes, then others):

Random Voice - Monday (http://ftp.untergrund.net/users/rez/mod/rez-monday.zip) (mix by Rez)
Maktone - Class 5 (http://ftp.untergrund.net/users/rez/sid/maktone-class05.zip)
Estrayk - The Her collection (http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=5022)
Ultrasyd - Happy Morning (http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=58573)
2 Much Pressure  (http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=68043) (mix by Maniac)
Mr Death - eric's permobil :) (http://ftp.untergrund.net/users/rez/xm/mr_death-erics_permobil.zip)

Warder - Tyhjan Pirtin Valssi (http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=59966)
Vibe - noisy tones (http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=59860)
Ghidorah - The Castle in Heaven (http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=58144)
Nightbeat - Approach (http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=155605)
Markus Hirvoinen - Will You? (http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=60062)
Escape From Earth 2 (http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=39212)

What's wrong with Milky Tracker? I use it all the time? D:

Oh My God, Cerapter! The Castle in Heaven is very good! :D
And Will You? is also very, very good! :D

Thank you, Cerapter. ^_^

Heh heh, Ultrasyd. A nice french guy. :D

Bocom > it's like if I had to restart from the beginning (although I can "read" a tracker pattern). Key config and all that stuff are slowing me when I try to produce something with Milky Tracker (or ...irk.. Renoise *cough*).
Plus I now have to deal with MIDI software such as Digital Performer/Cubase/Protools/Logic for my school... I miss tracking. :'(

Aha, well I started tracking with Milky Tracker sometime ago, in ninth grade, so it's kinda like the only program I know. :P

The best thing about tracking is that it's "making music under a microscope". You have control of everything, instantly.
