I had one earlier too! Galaxies hot chocolate to be precise, first time in a few years.

Do you normally put anything in them to enhance taste?

Hot cocoa...

I usually drink my cocoa without anything in it, or with whipped cream if I have access to it.

I've found chili works well with caffe mocha, though, so I'm planning to try that. I've also recently bought some liquid honey, and I plan to exchange some of the sugar in my usual cup of cocoa with this.

Another note: I tend to drink my cocoa with relatively little sugar and a good deal of cocoa.

My son likes hot chocolate but he likes it cold. Which basically makes it just standard milk and cocoa I think. Seems like his tongue is super sensitive or something... Everything must be around room temperature or below, otherwise he just ignores it and says that it's too hot. Funny little man.

i usually put a small scoop of vanilla ice cream in mine and top it with chocolate powder :)

I usually remove all the chocolate and replace it with whisky for maximum taste improvement.

Yes! And it's super tasty, but it only works using one whole bottle of whisky at least 15 years old. I dare you guys to try it.

Torp and me are gonna need to have a "chat" with you regarding what to do and not to do with vintage whisky. This "conversation" will probably involve baseball bats, angle grinders and a selection of woodcarver's tools.  >:(

I don't use sweeteners in my hot chocolate. Just the chocolate powder and milk is enough for me.

As for a drop of whiskey... well, if need be.

Actually, I'm partial towards testing out his suggestion first. Not with 15 year old single malt, but with something a tad bit cheaper Might still be a single malt, significantly younger, but most probably I'll go for a medium-quality irish whiskey.

I'd test out only a small dose at first, though. I have already done enough interesting stuff to high enough quality whisky that this should not add a serious dent to my track record (using Aberlour A'bunadh to flambee scallops, Smokehead (a good time ago) and some other somewhat higher-quality smoky whisky (last friday) to spice cabbage stew, using whisky instead of water in a caramel sauce recipe, adding more whisky to the cloudberry cream once I realized the not-so-smoky whisky did  not have a strong enough effect on the caramel sauce poured over the cloudberry cream, et cetera, et cetera. All these whiskies are single malts, by the way ;D ).

I do support adding a bit of whisky to your hot cocoa for flavouring. Or to a number of other things. Chocolate, for example. I must remember to try the whisky chocolate of a friend of a friend of mine. I wouldn't suggest using the highest qualities of whisky for this, since a cheaper whisky is usually more than adequate.

Beer and whisky also goes well together, and I've seen this drink called a u-boat where one takes a shot of cheap whisky and drop into a pint of beer (shot glass and all). I'm willing to try it. As long as it's cheap non-american whisky. Because I don't trust those damn americans.

I'll still join in on the torturing fun, though. Just because it sounds like fun.

It's pretty good. I'm newbie and non-expert at whiskies but I liked that drink quite much.

Unbeliably awesome. It wouldn't be far from the truth at all to claim that it was the best dish I'v ever eaten.

Let's just say I dubbed the dish "Glourious Sacrifice of Great Amounts of Good Whisky" once when I posted the recipe somewhere (well, originally, First Class Whisky, but that would be too nice towards the A'Bunadh. I'm afraid it's only good), and I would gladly make it again (in fact, I am lobbying for my friend the scallop-hunter (or diver...whatever) to get his ass out in the deep again to hunt the little buggers).

I have to agree, that stuff's good. I like it chilled, never tried it with hot cocoa...

I tried hot chocolate and a shot of brandy today, was pretty good, not as good as cheap whiskey though.
