I think spending over 100 euros for an mp3 player is a bad idea IN ANY CASE.

I might get a an iPod touch, too. Depends on how the iPhone contract looks like in Germany.

I just bought a 2nd generation Nano last year and am still deeply in love with it.

I'm not ready to move on yet :)

although the new nano is surprisingly sexy despite it's... stoutness.

the touch -does- looks excellent... but, I might wait a year or so to see where it goes (perhaps another generation of it) and then pick one up.

I still believe ipods to be the spawn of Satan, so no, I'll not get one.

My friend has an iPod touch, and i'm not gonna lie, they're pretty nifty.  It's entertaining enough to just scroll through your albums.  I have the AIDSâ„¢ iPod nano, and i like it alot, so i wont be spending mah monies on one, but i do aproove.

Definently no iPod for me. Currently I use my nokia n73 for both music and internet but its not very good at either. iPhone looks like a more given choice considdering what I use a mobile device for.

Neutered iPhone with no where near enough storage for my library. The classic's 40hr battery life and 160gb is mighty sexy though.

iPod touch > nothing. 'nuff said.

I'd get any of the iPods, except the shuffle, since I have no need for one.

nah, there's many media players that are inferior to iPods. And FLAC is overrated if you, like me, don't care about over-quality that comes in a big package. ;)

And change back, you give thyself a slap in your face. Because you are turning into an iggMaN^ clone. :o

Well I brilliantly put my iPod through the wash this morning.

looks like I'm stuck getting this new one now.

I'll just get an 8GB nano 2nd gen if I can though.  I don't really care about the video.

The iPod "Classic" sounds appealing. 160 gigs wheeee.

As far as the touch, I prefer something more durable.  :P I'm rough with my mp3 players. I want something small, built like a tank, and with decent storage.

So far my Zen has done well, but I still have the factory plastic sheet covering the screen for fear of scratching it (I tried one of those polyurethane sports covers, but I can't operate the thing with it on).

Yes I agree. But since I don't have the need of that much storage (yet), i'm thinking of getting the 80 gigs one. Because the price will drop again by the time I want the 160 gigs one.

I'm not sure what you mean by polyurethane sports covers. I use a PDA screen protector for every portable electronics with a screen that I have (cellphone, DS, GBA, ipod, etc). And it works perfectly fine for the touch thing (like for DS).

The Zen players (at least the old ones) come with a hard fake leatherish protective cover, which decreases the chance that the machine breaks through mechanical shock (ie. dropping it) to near zero. I used mine all the time (until I broke the phone plug, never carry your mp3 player on you while working with heavy power tools) with the cover, but I had the cover with a hole for the window.

The iPhone is built like a friggin' tank. They couldn't even do serious damage to it. I think/hope the touch is too. ;)

2-day review on 3rd gen 8gb black ipod nano

thing 1: sexy

thing2: fun clear video quality.  8GB not the BEST storage capacity for video, of course... but it's one of the best of this size you'll find.

thing2(again, but really 3): great new features and settings.  Favorite: The ability to shuffle WITHIN an album or artist, and not only shuffle your entire collection.

thing3 (for real): menu is goodness.  Half the screen is now dedicated to album art work panning by or to inform you of which option you are , at the time, highlighting.  Also: When on hold the screen automatically goes to a display without backlight showing the time, battery life and whether you are playing, paused or stopped.

thing4: so much cock

thing5: scratch that last thing (about cock)

thing55: back of ipod again perfect mirror to check my perfect hair in on the go (like 1st gen nano!)

thing6: I'm not really that conceded, but my hair is pretty cool.

So yes, good new generation iPod.  I wish they'd stop making new generation ipods though... it makes me sad when something better in every sense comes out when I own the previous version (read: Nintendo DS 1 month prior to announcement of DS Lite)

sign!

You've always been able to shuffle within albums or artists, you just had to go to the settings page to do it, and it was kinda annoying

but yes, at the very least it is now very easy to shuffle within an album or artist.

Are the volume restraints because of the headphones or because of the actual iPod? I remember the PSP headphones were limited to 80dB, so you might wanna try switching the Touch headphones for the original iPod headphones. Just a thought.

not sure why you quoted that post, but i returned it because i changed my mind about it. it was only really bought because it had a larger penis screen than my old one, and kinda figured looks arent worth £100.
that, and the sneaky buggers sold me a preowned unit without telling me, and i paid the full price.

That's why headphones are better than earphones. They don't damage your ears much compared to little earphones that blast straight into your eardrums.

Alix, I'm sure there's some proper headphones somewhere that can amp the sound up a bit, you'd be better off without them crappy earbuds anyway.

Yeah, the screen may not scratch, but that doesn't stop the fucking LCD from cracking due to pressure from god-knows-what in my rucksack.

You're actually paying more for the MM30's for the built-in microphone - I use them with my phone so it's handy, but the PMX60's apparently sound a lot better.

Title: Re: new generation ipods

The problem with neckband headphones though is rain. They're around your neck and don't fold up too easily so they pretty much just soak with rain. I'm scared of that happening to my MM30's, and since I don't have a hood on my coat it's pretty inevitable I guess..
Title: Re: new generation ipods

I'm sorry, but I much prefer in-ear headphones, I find the outer ones much too bulky, too loud for those around me, break too easily and make me look like (more of) a tool.

I got some rather sexy Wharfedale headphones, they do nicely with my black/chrome iPod nano. Why the hell does a black iPod come with white headphones anyway?

ARGH MY ZEN DIED

Yeah, the screen may not scratch, but that doesn't stop the fucking LCD from cracking due to pressure from god-knows-what in my rucksack.

Every time an mp3 player dies, I feel like I've lost a part of my soul.

arr, I still look at the case that once held my only 3 week old gen3 ipod nano and sigh.

sigh ever so deeply.

Wharfedale headphones,

i bought a wharfedale lcd tv today! 15inches and its HD reasy (not that its much use on something so tiny). but its so much nicer than my old chunky tv i had before. very good value for £150 i reckon.

I can send it in so they can open it up and tell me what happened, but if it's "my fault" they charge me $82 to fix it. Although I'm sure they'd charge me even if they couldn't fix it.

Now the choice is whether or not I get this repaired, or opt for a player with more storage... my music collection recently doubled in size (thank you, college + Ruckus Music Service + Tunebite + Ant :-* ), and I can't fit everything onto 30 gigs anymore.  :(
