Unless they can fix the lifespan of OLED panels it is pretty useless. Blue sub pixels only last for ~5000 hours and then all you have left is red/green sub pixels. New PHOLEDs can push 20,000 hours with their blue subpixels but it still isn't great. Patents also prevent it from being improved as everyone has to license the technology to do anything with it.

The future is/was SED but Toshiba pulled out of the venture it had with Canon because of patent/contract lawsuits from another company which has pretty much brought the entire thing to a stand still sadly. Canon is left fighting in court now - I hope they [Canon] win since it was them who started the research on these displays all the way back in 1987. A shame since they were ready to mass manufacture them and bring to market. I want my displays with sub 1ms responce times, true black with sexy HDR and 180 degree viewing angles. :( *shakes fist at stupid patents and legal system in general* At this rate FED will be our only hope. :(

Gawd, you think about the films that portrayed the future and now you see advances like this, kinda scary how we're slowly reaching such realities. Such thin screens..next they'll be floating in the air or something :P

yeah, this along with Microsoft Surface.

scary.

Nintendo may be innovating in the video game world, but Sony and MS sure as hell take the cake outside of it.
