Title: Greetings from the USA
Post by: Warrior Bob on November 02, 2006, 01:22:17 am
So by request (http://forum.machinaesupremacy.com/index.php/topic,4091.msg146432.html#msg146432) I've posted a thread here in the intro subforum.  Hi everyone!

I'm a sucker for a good synth in a rock band, and my tastes have been leaning more towards metal recently.  Machinae fits the bill pretty well, and at this point I generally consider them my favorite band.  I figured it's about time I started posting on the forums.

I don't know if there's much about me that will raise too many eyebrows...  I'm a university student majoring in Mathematics.  Videogame stuff is my main hobby, I enjoy building joysticks and talking about games with my friends.  Now and then I co-host a small radio show (http://pressstart.thefighting.org) about games, and I run a forum for fighting game fans (http://www.thefighting.org/forum) geared towards the people who live and play near me.

Anyway, it should be fun to be here.  It looks like a fun forum and I certainly enjoy the band well enough.  Cheers!

I'm in California, way on the west coast.  I'm about 20 minutes' drive from the ocean.

There are a few fans here, but mostly people who've started listening after I play it in my car or something.  Most of them are also demoscene fans to some extent, so I think that's where the crossover is.

Good to meet you :)

Welcome and instant Karma + 1 for awesome pumpkin!
Hey, thanks!

1 official welcoming post coming up. Also +1 karma as well ;)

Have fun and beware of Gravehill, he has this tendency to write unsettlingly coherent (and long) posts ;D

Central.  San Luis Obispo, if you're familiar with it.  Nice enough place.  It's no Nauru though :)

Someone else in my state  ;D
The three our four of us should do a meetup sometime.  We'll rock out or something fun like that.

Thanks, everyone, for all the welcomes!  This is probably the reception welcome I've gotten at any forum, even counting the one I run :)  I think it shall be a pleasure to hang out on this board, it sounds like there are some fine people here.

Hm, went there last spring for vacation. It is a nice place, much better then some of those big, overcrowed, coast citys like LA or SanFran IMO

No, not me.

But...but the internet makes everything possible, right?  Right?

:(

Yeah, I don't like cities so much.  I don't need things to be handed to me, I can very happily go make my own fun if I'm in a quieter little town.  Not having to worry so much about getting mugged is good too.  That part is nice.  I enjoy that part.

I have to establish some kind of credibility :)  I've been thinking of signing up for quite some time but never really got around to it until just recently.  I figured with Machinae getting signed by Spinefarm it'd be a good time to get to know the regulars before the forums got flooded.

why is everyone posting so much in this thread?

a) Because they want to welcome man with First Awesome Machinae Supremacy Pumpkin (which is cool acchievement worth praise and respect)

b) They are friendly and want to welcom anyone with cool posts

c) Postcount + x

Personally I think that it's mainly alternative (a) because... It was really nice thinking, being season thing and stuff, creative and otherwise cool. Maybe little bit (b) too because isn't that forum's nonwritten rule to drown newcomers with kisses, posts, hugs, biscuits, beers and whynot right from the start.

I don't believe in alternative (c) because I don't believe anyone to be such calculating person here and top spammers already got their postcounts skyhigh already (so they don't have to post so much to anywhere) and we are all such nice persons after all?
