Title: DigiTech GNX3000 or GNX4?
Post by: Miles_Ex_Machina on May 31, 2006, 01:42:01 am
What's the best choice for a metalhead such as meself? Personally I would go with 3000, as it sounds much better than GNX4. Am I wrong? I find the GNX4 design more appealing though. ::) What do you suggest?

linkxords:

GNX4 (http://www.digitech.com/products/GNX4/index.htm)
GNX4 (http://www.thomann.de/thoiw3_digitech_gnx4_genetx_multieffekt_prodinfo.html)

GNX3000 (http://www.thomann.de/thoiw3_digitechgnx3000_prodinfo.html)
GNX3000 (http://www.digitech.com/products/GNX3000/GNX3000.htm)

I'd prolly go for gnx4. GNX3000 looks like a toy and gnx4 sounds a bit better imo.

Are you sure that GNX4 sounds better? I've heard some cool 3000 demos here, played by someone called Crankshaft (http://www.digitech.com/soundcomm/guitar_product_start2.asp?productid=215). I didn't like GNX4 demos much, but maybe it's not everything you could do with it... What's the more recent one: 3000 or 4? Still I hope you're right about 4 - it looks so much better than 3000... :)

well the sound is a matter of taste, but id go for 4.

Personally, I like the look of the 3000 much better than GNX4.

But, I like things when they're black, at least musically.

It's tr00 kvlt.

As for sound, I haven't listened, but for looks, I'd go the way of the GNX3000.

conclusion: the sound and the looks are a matter of taste so go by your wallet. If you can afford gnx4, buy it. If not, buy gnx3000.
Or if you really think gnx3000 sounds better you should buy it. I just dont like the sound of 3000 (too artificial for me). OR if you dont really need the 8-track recording thing you should buy Boss GT-6 or GT-8. Ive tried GT-6 and omg it roxxord. imo it has the best sound of em all (metal zone 2 baby yeah).

Any demos for GT-6? Also: does it have an usb-port? Love how it looks btw.

P.S.: But GT-8 has to be better qua sound than GT-6, does it?

i don't know about the sound and im afraid that it doesnt have usb (not sure about gt8)

As long as it has midi-ports it's ok I guess. USB would be nice though... And I would really like to hear some demo's. But it's in the same price range as GNX3000, and GT-8 is in the same price range as GNX4, so I guess I could buy it, if I liked it enough. On the other hand: no usb, no patches, and that's bad, dude... Only GT-PRO does have an USB-port, but it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too pricy for my wallet: over 900 bucks at the cheapest places, make it 1000-1200 euro here... No way I'm spending so much money on it right now.

3000's price is very appealing: 300 bucks, 400 euros here tops. And I like how it sounds. Dunno, I still have time to decide: I won't be able to buy it till the end of july anyways.

So the question stays the same: 3000 or 4? I'm gonna listen closely to the demos and decide on that.

*EDIT* Checking out 4 demos. Sounds great. And costs the same as 3000 at my grounds for some insane reason. I think I'm going for that one.

Thanx, Mega. Here's GNX4 Demo Resourse (http://www.digitech.com/soundcomm/guitar_list_music.asp?productid=199) - check out Metallica stuff - it rox. Here's GNX3000 Demo Resourse (http://www.digitech.com/soundcomm/guitar_list_music.asp?productid=215).

EizN, I don't need any distortion box what so ever. I need a synth that sounds exactly natural. As I'm more of a homerecording guy. Plus I can add trackers to the song and make it kinda MaSu like. That would be so kewl. USB rox ^_^ As I can update the station with new sound models. And USB is more user friendly than any midi-port anyways.

I'd still go for Boss.

Best. Sound. Ever.

Edit: or just buy that gnx4 and boss metal zone 2 pedal.
