Interesting idea. Looks like I'm in the middle too.
This should be combined with the group portrait that K-Astra is doing.

Puberty = girls = depression = lazy = stay at home on pc.

... I don't agree :

Puberty = guys trying to get action from you = better stay home
Home = arguments with parents about studies = better stay on PC
PC = Internet = occasion to discover Machinae.
Machinae = paradise, but = also a forum.

^^

What exactly you don't agree with? :)

Puberty = wanting to get action from girls so badly and not getting any = deppression and frustration = discovering that internet is synonym for free porn = free porn, less frustration = no real reason to leave home but instead sit in front of computer all day long and occasionally find out about stuff like MaSu

Oh thank god and the heavens and all that is and ever will be that I'm done with that age period...

Well, except that real girls are more fun than porn-girls, and as such there is reason to get out, that's a pretty good one. Plus drinking alcohol all alone is depressing.

Drinking somebody elses homemade wine, that tastes like lemonade, on the other hand, is not. It is, however, very, very stupid. I drank several dls of the stuff in a single gulp. And forgot to take the prescribed 1,5l of water before I went to bed. As such I'm not feeling that good this morning.

And I, who was supposed to take it easy last night, as I was already sick. It is important to remember, the excersise in "do not excersise when sick" can be exchanged with party. But I ignored this.

Oh, I'm 21, by the way. No midlife crisis yet.

Does that answer your question?
Title: Re: forumer ages
Post by: Torp v2.0 on April 02, 2006, 05:27:14 pm
You are indeed ancient, AC.

And no, Fiindil, it doesn't.

Age does make you more mature. Or, it tends to do. Though as people mature at different speeds, 18 isn't neccecarily more mature than 15. Me at 18 is more mature than me at 15, but me at 18 isn't neccecarily more mature than you at 15.

Though of course, I am more mature than Fiindil. That's something you are by default.

On the topic of driving: I've had my L for almost two years now and I only drove for the first time last week. On the main highway no less, and now for the third trip my parents want to make me go through the pass. I am so going to die. (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=ucluelet,+british+columbia,+canada&ll=49.098599,-125.429192&spn=0.123861,0.378685&t=h) (follow 4 from Ucluelet to Port Alberni, very long, winding through the mountains and so narrow with no shoulders or anything to stop you from going off.)

Your birthday is just over a year away? Last time i checked, a persons next birthday is never over a year away. It is implicit in the entire idea that it must always be less than a year until your next birthday. Unless you're born on the last day of februrary in a leap year.

I have a Kinderegg (Ü-Ei, whatever) football smurf from the 80ies, which is, according to a collectors' catalogue, worth around 50 € now.

I think it has to do with the statues (not the crappy plastic toys) being hand painted and some of them have rare variations.

So did I ;D

But the toy isn't always a crappy statue of a smurf... Just look at these two toys I got yesterday and the day before yesterday in Kindereggs.

speaking of Ü-Ei,

the german version is "(Kinder)-Ãœberraschungs-Ei", which translates to "Children surprise egg", and from
now on should be abbreviated as "ÃœBER-Ei". Cool, heh?

It was also a smart move to call the company or brand "Kinder", so there's no mistake who the target group of the products might be. That's almost as genius as calling your movie "Snakes on a plane".

brazilian jujitsu for the win.  a brazilian jujitsu master could take out any master of any other form of martial art, no challenge.  you just cant compete with them.

and to avoid sounding like a stupid girl who doesnt give any reasons, here they are:  brazilian jujitsu is about getting your opponent on the ground as fast as possible, and then destroying them.  karate, judo, kung fu, ninjitsu... none of them can keep you from falling on the ground.  kung fu can keep you from flailing when you fall, and can keep the fall from hurting, but no martial art otehr than brazilian jujitsu actively studies the art of getting off the ground, fighting on the ground, and attacking people on the ground.

you all are dead.

Well, I am afraid I must agree. Brazilian Jujitsu is widely considered one of the most combat effective martial arts. I've considered taking up a bit of BJJ, as groundfighting and such is not a large part of our karate studies. Problem is, the local BJJ club has a way too steep membership price.

It is not true that BJJ is the only art to study groundfighting, though. Judo, at least some styles, have quite a bit of groundfighting at higher grades, if I'm not mistaken, and so does recreated Pankration (Pankration was the martial art of the ancient greeks, a probably rather large (and brutal) system encompassing everything from boxing to neckbreaking (probably the worlds first Mixed Martial Art, actually), but the system is long lost. Some enthusiasts of Western Martial Arts have tried to recreate the system from the few pieces of information they have, though). Then, of course, there's a myriad of military arts and MMA styles, many of which probably borrow heavily from BJJ, though.

I'm still not completely sure who I would have put my money on in a fight between, say, Helio, or maybe Carlson, Gracie and Mas Oyama, though. Oyama was insane, and in all his time travelling around the world fighting anyone who wished to challenge him, taking on almost 300 challengers, he never lost once (a feat Helio did not manage), most fights ending with the first punch he threw. Of course, he was completely and utterly dedicated to training and fighting (to the point were he spent 18 months totally isolated from the world, training in the mountains of Japan, and then after coming back and winning a tournament, another year). He never met any BJJ masters, though, as far as I know. Too bad, I would have liked to see such a match. It could have been very interesting.

PS - ground fighting doesn't really work if you are facing multiple enemies... you have to pick them one by one in mid distance ... imo .. but then again, opinions are like a..

i love ong bak.  Muay Thai is an awesome fighting style, and if i was going to learn another martial style (i already know a solid bit of kung fu), it'd probably be that.

I have spent 5 years learning kung fu, and i love it.  however, its a shitty fighting style in actuality.  it's very showy, very form-oriented, and so many of the forms leave you wide open when you use them.  Kung Fu, therefore, is significantly more about obtaining spiritual nirvana through physical harmony.  and THAT is why i <3 it.

I gotta disagree... aikido can not only effectively prevent falling, but makes it much easier to make the other person fall; and if somehow you do fall, there are any number of ways to escape your plight. Plus it's a positive art which (like many, to be fair) emphasizes most of all averting violence. And when a fight is averted, everyone wins, regardless of how few people have been beaten up.

In sum, though:

Best looking martial art: capoeira
Best martial art to not get ass-kicked: aiki-jitsu
best martial art for me: kajukenbo (cause they gave me a blackbelt and it only took 2.5 years)

Yes, by "productive and good members" I do mean "obedient and willing sex slaves".

Or, you know, just "tolerant and able to think for yourselves".

Though if you won't become tolerant and have a mind that you haven't borrowed from some idiot on TV, the former may happen when I come to power.

That would be a really stupid thing for a dictator to do, actually. Eliminating all humans unable to think for themselves would mean exterminating all his supporters.

quick, somebody relate the last few sexual posts to forumer age... like.... pedophile or something.

Lest Gaijin's all-mighty eye peer upon this thread and ban all ye who dare go off topic.

Gaijin would kick you in the balls personally before banning you, thats how cool he is, reet?

And SpeedD: good idea.

I'd probably settle for a swift kick in the nuts, and just forgo the entire banning-business. It's not good if one wants repeat customers.

Besides, If I ban the people that I kick in the nuts, how am i supposed to be able to kick them in the nuts again?

My point exactly.

Moral: Gaijins past times include; not banning people, kicking people in the nuts, kicking people in the nuts repeatedly.

Fine fine past times, i must take up some of those. *takes up latter*

Or better yet , if you can, Hide all sections of the forum to banned accounts. Create a banned section of the forum for only the banned people to see, in read only where they can view the message made by MegaDokkie. - but you still need to let all the outsiders be able to lurk without logging in.

No, just because he's MDX. He kills a man every night. Pleasure or necessity?, no one will ever know.
