You got to have some self-respect too! And if I would make as good music as you do I would be my own fan too. In the matter of fact I am, my only fan. Though I do not make music.

You mean å ? If you have skandinavian keyboard it's easy.

If you have not, then I think you must first enable "baltic"-language support in Windows and then "switch"- to skandinavian keyboard (ALT + SHIFT) and then try different keys. At one point å might pop out.

Cool, I just got a program called Babylon Pro which translates 'almost' any word with just a mouse click:

Here's what I translated from what you wrote:
one, taget value analysis (this can't be right?); INSERT INTO yabbse_messages (ID_MSG, ID_TOPIC, ID_MEMBER, subject, posterName, posterEmail, posterTime, posterIP, smiliesEnabled, modifiedTime, modifiedName, body, icon, attachmentSize, attachmentFilename) VALUES three,  six (mmm!); INSERT INTO yabbse_messages (ID_MSG, ID_TOPIC, ID_MEMBER, subject, posterName, posterEmail, posterTime, posterIP, smiliesEnabled, modifiedTime, modifiedName, body, icon, attachmentSize, attachmentFilename) VALUES nine, ten. ack (alas)...and goddeg....No matches were found for goddeg" .... and   å  actually translates to 'river'...hmmm... ;D ;D ;D

Hi,

I'm new to these forums, I hail from the province of Quebec in Canada, but I keep moving all over the god darned place. So far I've yet to meet someone here who knew Machinae Supremacy before I introduced them to the band. Now there are a lot more Canadian fans  :D

Welcome to the Machinae forum.
I have also introduced some Canadians to Machinae, so hopefully we will all keep the band's music spreading everywhere :)

Evenin' to thee as well Wintress.

Does this mean we two are the only North Americans on this forum?

Deary my, surely this needs to be changed if it's the case.

Hehehehee, most friends I have who are Canadian do not like being called North Americans, but "resistance is futile" because, well, that's what part of the continent Canada is on! ;D

There are some USA'rs here (like me)...the first one I can think of who posts regularly is Elrond...I think there are also some others registered on the forum as well. Machinae pretty much has fans from all over the world :D
Title: Re:The fans!
Post by: Layson Juravis on August 17, 2003, 05:23:03 am
Ah, well, at least we're not alone.

As a fact, I was calling ourselves North Americans simply because we are seperated from most of the posters by an ocean.

However, between Quebec and Lake Tahoe, well, there are only several thousand kilometers of plains, mountains, rivers, forrests and whatnots (fear the whatnots).

But know that at heart I'm a proud Canadian over a North American, that wont change ;)

So now that we have Europe and North America covered, mayhaps it's time we conquer Australia first, then trap Asia between all of the Machinae factions.

Only Africa and South America would then remain.

Yes...

Yes, and the reverse is true for me ;)
However, I love the parts of Canada I've been to, and most of the people I've met. In particular, I love most of British Columbia and parts of Alberta. I went to New England in June and I also drove to Nova Scotia...the coastal areas there are awesome :D

Yup, yup.

The signature is indeed from Impossible Mission. I've played that game way too much when I was a young kiddo. Also, I felt it was necessary to sneak in subliminal messages to incite our guests to stay.

All you need to do is get some radio play , in Australia, and you guys should go good.

Just wondering is your only means of distribution of the music Via the web? Or in where ever you are do you get radio play?

Hmm.. saw only 3 finns reporting here as I quickly browsed through these pages..

Well I'm 4th then and I think Hazul hasn't reported yet and I know he's finnish also so I guess there are only about 5 finns checking these forums out or maybe they just don't bother answering these questions :)

I'd expect more finns around here since some guys even found an irc channel for this band and I saw about 20 guys there about a month ago as I checked it out.

And for closer information I'm from Espoo which is right next to Helsinki (15 km to central of Helsinki from my place)

Well, long story short when I was about 12 years old and finding the magic of the local BBSs my father and I were in his room going to long on for the first time.  He asked me what I wanted my handle to be and I looked down at my feet.  Well, I was on his waterbed and he had a strict "No shoes" rule on his waterbed.  so I said, "Bare foot.  But spell it like the animal."  Sence you could only have a one word handle it became "Bearfoot" and it's been my handle ever sense.

(for the last 15 years.)

Also if that really equals out a size 13 US, that's a pretty common shoe size for men.  (At least that's what the shoe store salesman told me.  It's what I wear)
Title: Re:The fans!
Post by: Gravehill on August 30, 2003, 01:56:11 pm
Mine shoesize is 48 and I have hard time finding new shoes. So I figure 50 is really rare. It is REALLY big foot...
Title: Re:The fans!
Post by: Bates on August 30, 2003, 07:05:21 pm
Not that it isn't completely off-topic now, but I've found a conversion table inside my shoe this morning (the weird thing is it must've always been there, but I never paid attention to it); It reads:

US 13 1/2
UK 13
FR (and most other European countries, I guess) 48 2/3
JP 315

Now with a little mathematic effort every Machinae fan in the world can calculate Deghar's frightening shoe size of about 14 or 15  :o

North Carolina, USA... Nothing special, I just moved here from Florida.

Anywho, though I'm a newcomer, these guys seem to be really good.

Since there Swedish and there are a few Swedish posters here, have any of you (or anyone for that matter) heard of or listen to:
In Flames, Children of Bodom, Destruction, God Dethroned...?
They're from Sweden/Finland and I wanted to see if anyone has seen/heard of them.

Welcome Tnt and Roadie, enjoy your stay on this forum. Most addictive and craziest forum ever! I'm from Finland and I have heard those bands. I like In Flames, but not as much as Machinae!

Today's secret : Machinae Supremacy is THE ONLY band whose OFFICIAL fan I am! I once thought about Helloween but then rethought it and thought "nah...". Machinae just stole my heart away, those rockin' dudes!

Sweet... travelling.

I can't wait to be done with school so I can start moving around a bit more. In 4 months I'll be a free man though. You're quite lucky to be exploring South America Wintress, I've heard a few nice things from those who've been.

My next trip is a more conservative one, going to Europe in England, Italy and Switzerland. Hopefully I'll enjoy it mucho.

Oh... And to everybody I missed with my 3 weeks without the internet: Welcome... very welcome you are... yesssssss..

Gifts for all of us, of course..?

You will enjoy Thailand, I think :D

My ex-boyfriend is there right this moment on vacation. He's staying mainly in Bangkok, but also hiring a car and driver (it's cheap he says) and taking excursions to other parts of Thailand. He's gone to the croc farms there, ridden an elephant into the jungle, and sounds like he's really having fun.

It sounds interesting to me, and he said the people are very friendly and welcoming. Maybe someday when I'm rich (HA!) I'll go there as well 8)

I wondered where I was as well!

Haven't had such problems moving from point A to point B in my life. When I arrived in my new apartment, I had a little surprise... it was still being renovated.

So I spent the first week eating fastfood and painting to help the landlady out who really didn't have renovation in her genes. And once I was done with that, well, the fast-fodd made me sick and I fell under the weather big time.

To add too that, the phone company thinks that somebody likely purposely sabotaged our phone lines somehow. Took technicians one 2 hour visit to get the phone working, and another visit to get the internet working on DSL.

At least now I'm settled in, have the Internet and time to spare again, hence my presence.  ;D

Layson

Edit: Oh, and I've been to Thailand as a kid, it's lovely. The beaches and temples are awesome. The prostitutes are everywhere though, it's kind of disturbing.

Falköping->Skaraborg->Sweden

Someone asked if ppl had seen other swedish bands, and I have :D
I saw In Flames on Hultsfred this summer, with {Link}in Flames on their T-shirts, since they were there instead of Linkin Park. Someone also said they had "Linkin sucks" text too, but I was too busy rocking my socks off to notice.
I also was Junior Senior, they played almost metal music... They rocked the socks off of an unprepared me.

When will Machinae play on Hultsfred?

Errrrrrrm, yeah sorry. I didn't mean to call anybody a newbie  :( It just came out wrong.

Personnaly I cook Heavenly Hash, Banana, and Chocolate muffins. So I could offer those. Of course, somebody would have to make arrangements to keep them fresh for when I send them. By the time an European visitor would recieve a muffin from an oversea postal service, it would likely have the texture of a brick.

And to everyone else who joined the forums since my last visit: "Welcome! And make yourself at home!"

I hail from the land west of the nation of the Machinaes (Norway, that is). Originally from the southern parts (Stavanger); INSERT INTO yabbse_messages (ID_MSG, ID_TOPIC, ID_MEMBER, subject, posterName, posterEmail, posterTime, posterIP, smiliesEnabled, modifiedTime, modifiedName, body, icon, attachmentSize, attachmentFilename) VALUES I am now quite far from home, serving my obligatory army year in the northern parts (I did a fast calculate, and I'm as far away from home as I would have been if I was in Switzerland). Now, on the positive side, the army spends a lot of money on the welfare of their soldiers, and so I was thinking that I might get them to use some of these to get MaSu up here  ;D (hmmm...probably not, but if MaSu is doing gigs before the summer vacation of 2004, I've heard they pay a lot of cash :) And with a few thousand bored soldiers from all over the country up here, they might establish a strong fanbase :) ).

Oh, and I might just mention it at once. I'm a rambler...

I'm new here, only my second post. Only just heard about the band from a friend of mine. I don't know if he posts here, but I do, and i'm from Toronto Ontario (Canada). I'm trying to get the name of the band around to everyone I know cause I really like the music and the messages the music sends out. Hopefully my band will start playing Machinae-inspired songs, helping us to spread the word.

Inflames and Machinae are my two favorite bands.

InFlames have videos for Cloud Connected, Trigger, Pinball Map, Quiet Place, Ordinary Story, Only for the Weak, and some of the other older songs.

I also agree that Episode 666 is their best song. If you are listening to In Flames based on their newest CD and like it, you should go back and listen to their older stuff. As good as In Flames' new cd is, its nothing in comparison to their older stuff.

My band at the moment is an InFlames cover band, We've done Episode 666, Ordinary Story, Only for the Weak, The Hive, Gyroscope, Acoustic Medley, and we're working on Zombie Inc, Dead Alone, Cloud Connected, and December Flower right now. I really want our band though to start doing Machinae style songs. Just by our history as a band, and as people, Machinae is very closely related to our pasts as well as our style of music choice.

Soon i'll have a website up for our band with our MP3s. They are decent quality but our singer sucks hardcore.

Title: Re:The fans!
Post by: Poisoned on April 18, 2004, 10:56:31 pm
If I could find one I would. You see, I live in Canada, and as everyone should know, Canada sucks. The lack of EVERYTHING in Canada is a sure suggestion to the fact we have a lack of talent in singers. I think I can sing better than the current singer, however he's also our guitarist and a very very good one at that. And he wants to sing. So until we find a replacement for him which he can agree on, or we find a better guitarist so I can sing, we have to deal with it. Luckily a lot of our songs so far have been Instrumentals :D

Title: Portugal
Post by: palhoto on April 19, 2004, 01:49:16 am
Lisbon (capital); INSERT INTO yabbse_messages (ID_MSG, ID_TOPIC, ID_MEMBER, subject, posterName, posterEmail, posterTime, posterIP, smiliesEnabled, modifiedTime, modifiedName, body, icon, attachmentSize, attachmentFilename) VALUES Portugal. I did live 4 years of my early childhood in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA. At my university there are at least 4 more MaSu fans.

Sobella asked Ganryu (from Brasil) some posts back (Sept09) what "porraloca" meant. The discussion went on to "porra" meaning "slegehammer", which isn't so in Iberian Portuguese, "Porra louca" has its best translation as "crazy sh#*". "Porra" is a light/medium swear word in Portugal, it doesn't translate directly to "sh#*", it is untranslatable.

Brazilian and Iberian Portuguese are different in slang (and pronounciation); INSERT INTO yabbse_messages (ID_MSG, ID_TOPIC, ID_MEMBER, subject, posterName, posterEmail, posterTime, posterIP, smiliesEnabled, modifiedTime, modifiedName, body, icon, attachmentSize, attachmentFilename) VALUES so "porra louca" could have a completely different meaning in Brazil, it's quite like American and British English.

For example, "rapariga" in Portugal is the most used word for "girl", in Brazil it means "prostitute" in slang. There are alot more innocent words in Portugal that have an offensive meaning in Brazil. In Portugal there are many Brazilian soap operas on TV and I watched quite a few when I was younger; I haven't yet heard a normal word for Brazilians that would have an offesive meaning in Portugal.

If I'm not mistaken, in Brazil, "louca" is also used in writing; "loca" is spanish. It is pronounced quite the same way in both languages (portuguese and spanish).

For those who want a bit more history background to understand the Portuguese language branch, start out by going to http://oregon.uoregon.edu/~sergiok/brasilhist.html (http://oregon.uoregon.edu/~sergiok/brasilhist.html), the Portuguese Brazil colonization/colony (1500-1822); INSERT INTO yabbse_messages (ID_MSG, ID_TOPIC, ID_MEMBER, subject, posterName, posterEmail, posterTime, posterIP, smiliesEnabled, modifiedTime, modifiedName, body, icon, attachmentSize, attachmentFilename) VALUES then google until you've had enough ;)

here at the rochester institute of technology the anime club and gaming groups are some of the largest student groups on campus.. I so want to get a big poster or banner or just stand up and say hey this band exists and theyre good! I'd probably target those groups first because im part of them and since they might be more attracted to it... and it would be sooo nice to get people to stop listening to linkin park..

Agreed... I've been trying to get my sister (she's 17) into MS, but since there are no songs about hating your parents, or being a loner, she's not interested (yet!) But then my other sister who's 15 is vaguly interested, but the Linkin Park machine has snared her too.

Don't have to stop people liking Linkin Park to also like Machinae Supremacy. I like them both, though about two months ago MaSu pushed LP down into third place, taking the No.2 spot in my favorite band chart. (No.1 is PM5K!)

Besides, Linkin Park's new Breaking The Habit anime-style video is uber-cool.

A new fan has arrived!

Origin:

Stockholm/Sweden

Birth date: 1977

I got a new letter from Bjorn Lynne, I listened and I loved what I heard! I told people about you on the Renoise music tracker forum, someone found your site, I went here, downloaded all the songs! Now I´m listening and this is the best group I have heard comming from Sweden in many many years! In fact its one of the best groups I heard in a long time any music category!

If I´m not wrong and you continue as a band the sky is the limit for how big you will be, and I´m never wrong* (not in this case)...

Now I´m going to enlighten all my friends about you!

But first I´m off to buy your record, before it is sold out!

There is just one problem I´m want to surprise my girlfriend with your album, she will love it, then she can play it at the school where she is a teacher for 7-9 graders, they will also love your music!

But this is so good I also want a copy for myself :)

Thanks for the music and the samples on your site!
You should release it as a album too!

*Unless I´m not right...

so MDX can see the future then?

he joined before anyone knew what the album was called and before MBD had agreed to distribute the album...maybe him 'expressing' himself so often has given him future sight....

So MDX can read the future? Therefore the future will be insanity and reply to conversations with pointless but hilariously inane comments?

Or even worse...
Are you saying that MDX is god? 'Cos if that's the case. Kill me now!

If you mean Bloodangel. He did say that, but only because he actually expected more somewhat. As far as I know, he thinks the album is great and always listens to it - he just thinks it could've been better. Even if it's not brilliant for Machinae, it's still brilliant compared to everything else.

Disclaimer: This is by no account a reflection of my feelings towards the album - I believe it to be the best thin on this mother-earth.

Belfast, NI checking in.

PC related banter:

Dante: I've seen this episode a thousand times, it won a Humanatus.
Randal: What's a humanatus?
Dante: It's an award for shows that don't use words like "retarded".
Randal: That's retarded. And queer.
