Title: have you been to MbD lately?
Post by: Neil on June 21, 2005, 04:07:22 pm
Since we first published "Dues Ex Machinae" we've added so much new stock to MbD, we have now over 70 titles in stock. And by the end of the month we'll have 100.

infact we've grown our stock so much and so rapidly that we have a backlog of titles which need to be added to the website.

Why chose MBD?

Well, we are inexpensive, nearly 50% cheaper than synsoniq in many cases. You get great customer service, if your not happy with the product we'll replace or refund you without quibble, Delivery times have improved significantly, and above everything else WE LOVE MACHINAE SUPREMACY. and we listen!!! we value your opinon.

Btw.. if you've had a bad experience with mbd or in some slight way you are unhappy with our services, we'd really like to know, can we improve? what do you want? we want to really want you to have 100% satisfaction.

Maybe your happy with us, but wish to see improvements?

I'm always happy to talk and discuss everything with you.

Both my first edition were cracked, but the new edition came without a mark ;D
I was surprised that anything traveling that far could come through unharmed.

My first edition came spotless, but the second has small scratches on the jewel case spine. :P

my first ed came in perfect condition, haven't had a chance to get the second ed yet though. any breakage on the jewel case is most likely caused by the shipping as well, so mbd can't really be blamed.

How about second-hand? ;)

My first edition was in perfect condition, I think I'll buy the second one together with Redeemer.

With cracked cases I'd always blame the postal services first. Or the manufacturers of these air-thing padded envelopes. Maybe more stable cartboard boxes could help, but it might lead to higher shipping costs.

Ahhh... a CD so powerful it attempted to break out. Rather uncommon.

As many will understand cracked or slightly scratched jewel cases is indeed a problem but not just for Music by Design but every other mail order company out there.

We bought in more expensive packing bags hoping to rectify the matter but strangely though they were stronger they seemed to make the situation a little worse, so we've reverted back to the old style.

We've considered packing in box like material and that would slightly improve matters but would double the costs of postage and packaging and with price being of primary concern its not feasable to change it.

I think to charge £6 to ship to the USA for example would put many many people off buying.

Ref: I don't understand. How were they broken from the inside? How could you tell this?

Neil: I think the general theme is that many will buy the 2nd print along with the new album. So you'll just have to hang on in there on that one.

I had a look through the list of titles a while back. One's that caught my eye were The Black Mages, the Guilty Gear X CD  ;D, and even the Worms 2 soundtrack lol.

Unfortuately these will go on the "things I will buy when I have a job and a stable income" list. :'(

It doesn't really bother me too much. It's not the CD that's damaged, nor the leaflet. It's easy to just change the case.

And anyway, half of my jewel cases get broken by myself at some point.

Packaging in a box wouldn't help as far as I can tell from my experience. My experience with DVD and CD cases that go through the mail is that you will almost always end up with a cracked case or more in a box. (USPS is really good at it, probably the best. They've managed to beat the shit out of everything I ever ordered from the states and deliver it late. Thankfully when I ordered from MBD it arrived in perfect condition, particularly impressive for it being in a padded envelop and not some sort of reinforced nano-carbon case. Props to the British Airmail service.)

The packaging ultimately means bugger all in the grand scheme of things.. provided there's *some* form of padding around it, that's basically the best you can do. A friend of mine knew someone who worked for Royal Mail, and he said that when they have one of those big trucks full to the roof with parcels, as often as not, they would basically climb up on top of everything, and just start shoving boxes off the edge with their feet, or throwing them out. Didn't matter a damn if you had something fundamentally fragile in there, they were still gonna land in someone's arms or on the ground from a good 12 feet up :P Not every depot will be like that of course, but it doesn't matter how well something is packed if it's gonna get treated like shit on the way there...

Because I'm talking about Royal Mail, that veritable beacon of mediocrity :P

All of my cases were in fine condition... But, if I cracked it, I just grabbed an old CD, popped it apart, and swapped out the pics and CD. ;D

Everything is great so far. But the new MaSu albu NEEDS to come out. Ghost only made the wait harder.
