Title: Imported CDs were shipped with broken case
Post by: Ayanami on February 01, 2005, 09:17:32 pm
A friend and I from Germany ordered the album some time ago and we both got it with broken jewel cases. The CDs itself are working, but still it's annoying. Anyone else made this experience?
I know that Machinae Supremacy cannot likely be blamed for this; still I wanted to let them know...

Back side (http://www.ayanami.at/misc/ms2.bmp)

The pictures are not very accurate, but I think one can reckognize the dents and scratches in the plastic.

The likelyhood is that they were damaged in transport, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have been sent to you in that state.

It's always damage in the post. The amount of time you hear complaints on eBay about cracked cases. It happens, mail services aren't the safest processes; what can ya do?

Mine came cracked as well. It's a bit of a matter of luck I'd suppose. Unfortunate, but as Radicz says, getting a new jewel case is quite cheap.

Mine got lost. Neil sent it, but it never arrived. So he sent another one, which did arrive and showed no signs of damage. It's safely in my CD rack now (I play everything from hard disk, since I have no CD player).

AFAIK, the mail handling machines they use transport mail at 50 km/h or so, so it's not that amazing that things get damaged now and then.

Both of mine were cracked...
I'm glad it was just the case.

I've played it in a stereo once or twice, but it's so damn unpractical having to move from the computer...

I read that without the contextual quotes at first and i had this odd image of machsup storming a Postal Service (the band...) concert and turning up the amps and rocking out.

That would be awesome.

My second thought was of them covering a Postal Service song. That might also be awesome, though that might be more of a job for LifeForce.

That was my intention, and it would be awesome.

It's a small problem is cracked cases, we do our best. Infact reciently we've changed to tougher packaging but alas some CD's will get there damaged.

The only way to combat this problem is to really package up every CD with air tight bags. But  that would increase postal charges significantly.

Anyone fancy paying £5 for a CD? :(

I understand your concern, and if you want a replacement CD then please Return the CD to us in the condition you recieved it in, and we'll replace the CD free of charge.

Not that you don't have good intentions, but if it gets broken in transit once, what's to stop it from happening a second time?

unless you meant you were going to super package it, in which case I feel stupid

That is a noble gesture, but you really are not to blame, so let's just forget about it. I didn't intend to complain anyway, I just wanted to let you know that there are problems with the delivery...

By the way, £ 5  = 10 € - that is still a cheap price. Normally here in Germany you pay between 15 and 20 € für* a decent album.

(* = language related typo, but I am too sexy to correct)

Even wrapped in bubblewrap, the CD jewel case won't survive some handling by the air-freight people. Luckily, jewel cases aren't that expensive.

All it does is make sure the precious CD gets to where you want it to be. :)

I dunno but you can complain, right ?
i mean you pay for a undamaged one.
Its like you pay for a shoe, and you get a egg.  :D

but egg's are better to throw at people. shoes hurt and get stolen, eggs hurt and cover the person in crap. and can't be thrown back
