Post by: MashedByMachines on January 10, 2005, 03:03:50 pm: YESSS i finally *bought* the SID vstplugin for cubase, so now i can make music like MaSu :D:D:D

its soo cool you can get all the classic SID sounds and make youown as well, oooo im so happy ;D

So i am back on track with everything and im starting to work on Spiffs Iji Soundtrack again, and i have a full cubase set up with everything running.. well pretty much fine. My question to you all is this, where can i find an attainable free source of quadrasid, preferably the newest edition but the latest "attainable" edition that is "free".. would be great.

Tried torrents but tbh no luck yet, and i can't figure out DC++

But belive it or not. None of theese VSTi plugins (not even QuadraSID) really sounds like the real SID :'(.
(At least I can not make it sound right).

If you want that I guess to only way is to get your hands on a http://www.hardsid.com/... Or a SIDstation.
People say HardSID is better, I have no idea. But SIDstation is forever out of stock it seems anyway.

Has anyone tried it? I am thinking of starting saving for one.

i'd personally just stick to the VST plugins. you may not achieve an exact replica, but it's better than fiddling with hardware [:

Exactly. I just got quadraSID through ::) and it works great. As for HyperSID, I never could get that to work.

Now I just have to find out how they make those "Pulse Waves" in Winterstorm and Sidstyler \o/

There is a new NEXUS expansion called "SID" and it sounds great. Listen to the mp3 file (about 10 minutes!) - some tunes might sound familiar to you...
