I was pretty stoked to begin with, but this was a definite bright spot of this past week. One more installment in my daily webtrotting for a while! i wish they'd give a specific date though.

Now, why would they have this guy..

Yasunori Mitsuda
(PROCYON STUDIO CO., LTD.)   CHRONO TRIGGER / XENOGEARS

Unless it's related to something they've not told us yet?

i'd have a god damn orgasm in my liver if someone from Chrono Trigger was in Smash Bros Brawl.

but they do, indeed, have an amazing team of music composers.
it's going to be something to remember.

also: I have the Super Smash Bros Melee Orchestra that I got for free in a copy of Nintendo Power years ago.
I have it ripped into mp3 and labeled all pretty.  It's fantastic and if anyone wants any of it, just let me know.

I lost the slip case, now it's all scratched.  :(

I'm still wary of Solid Snake... it's neat that they have him in there, but I don't think he'll be implemented very well.

I've seen this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aW4ZGn3sWpk), but nothing else. If you know of any you think I should see, I'd be glad to look. From that... I dunno. I can't help thinking he's going to be kind of a boring character, if only because he's so "realistic" in his games. Kirby can swallow things, Pikachu shoots electricity, and Snake... knows karate.  :P

No, of course not. I think they genuinely want to make him work. I just don't think they will.  :-X

I looked on the page, though, and I can't find them. If you mean the characters page, he's not on there yet.

on the main page there are 2 links for videos.
here is 1 (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/movies/movie01.html) and here is 2 (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/movies/movie02.html)

they don't have him in the character's page yet.
they're re-releasing everything 1 at at time with specific details about each of them.

I found the original two games boring, though they're fun for parties with nubs who have no idea how to play a real fighting game.  I fall in that category, but I don't go to a lot of parties with videogames; thus, blegh.

really? Boring?
Melee is practicaly one of my favourite things to do -ever-.

the better my friends and I get the more fun it gets, too.
it's ENDLESS.

but there are always people who don't like certain PHENOMENAL games.

I, for example, do not like Halo.
not even a little.

The Nintendo Wii really is a versatile piece of hardware.
I mean, when it comes to controllers, there are pretty much four
different types.

I guess I have no choice but implement them all!

There’s no need to be confused about what does what—just choose the
play style you prefer!

I suppose I would recommend the Nintendo GameCube controller,
though. I like the feel of that powerful rumble.

Still, try out the other controls—they definitely give you a fresh experience.

Hmm? How do you do smashes and dashes with just the Wii Remote?
If I get the chance to tell you, I will.

I'm starting to see similarities in writing style.. Hmmmm.

So can you have 1 player playing with just a wiimote, one with mote+chuck, one with ccontroller and one with cubetroller? (i think i just invented all those abbreviations)

That would be cool, and it would make 4 player easier since I wouldnt have to buy another 2 remotes.

WHUT sirix is gay?

I have to admit; finding ways to make all three controller systems work, and work well (which i do not doubt that they will) is quite a display of programming and technical talent.  It'll be a game i play every once in a blue moon; but I'm kind of sort of having a reawakened love with pokeman.  but that's OT.

back ONT: why in the HELL isn't Bomberman a playable character?  Bomberman is CLEARLY as classic of a character as Samus or Mario, and a nintendo legend at that; yet they're putting in shitty characters like Snake and crazy duplicates of other characters they already have instead.  I WANT THE BOMB MAN.  Megaman would be sexy, too.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros DOJO
Post by: PrescriptiveBarony on June 12, 2007, 09:58:58 am
welllll snake is the only non-nintendo character and that's cause the metal gear solid guy begged them to put him in... if cappcom and hudson soft want to make a game of their crappy intellectual property they can, and snake can go to hell for all i care, but i trust they'll fit him in well enough. I hope they drop pichu, young link, and falco. and dr. mario. maybe ganondorf. and either marth or roy.

on the other hand, having all the ssbm characters plus a bunch more legitimate ones (i.e. not just "let's make capt. falcon heavier and call him ganondorf") and having a selection of 50 or so would be pretty sexy.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros DOJO
Post by: not12x on June 12, 2007, 10:35:11 am
heh.  Your post reminded me that we probably wont see megaman, since he's in all those Marvel vs. Capcom games.  probably some crazy copyright or sth.

But, Bomberman!

And you;re right.  There are too many characters who are exact duplicates, but just faster or heavier.  It shows a lack of creative effort, and is one of the reasons I don't really like SSB.

NO

anyone who doesn't play the game a lot doens't realise how different these characters actualy are.

yes, they're still just clones.. but they play quite a bit differently.
I prefer Falco over Fox... Ganondorf WAY over Falcon... the Dorf is one of my favourites.
Dr. Mario as well!
and I love Pichu, can't stand Pikachu.

but really, anyone who actualy plays the game a LOT (me.. gawd.. so much) realises the worth of these "clones".

As for the possibility of Bomberman.  The only other 3rd party character that is in consideration is Sonic.
Besides that they will all be pure Nintendo.
there are 15 new characters in total (droolz!)
so we still have a lot to see ;D

NO.

look, they're different.  Slightly different.  But they're still most generally clones of each other.

look, why make a game where you have a 'normal', 'fast and light', and 'slow and heavy' version of every character?  that's just retarded, and overcomplicates things for no reason.  And, for fucks sake, if you're gonna do it, don't make *more* characters, make it an option, and for ALL characters.

And Bomberman is way more badass than Sonic.  End of story.

I knowwww they're different, and I certainly play Ganondorf quite a bit (though Falcon is my mainstay) but I was just suggesting characters to drop so they'd have room for the new ones and then some.

but i would have no problem with something like what erin suggests... a "young"/"light" version of all of them as well as a "heavy"/"armored" version. or just one. or something of the sort.

i resent your repeated implications that i simply don't play it enough!

dropping them to make room for more characters isn't really necesary.

and making these "clones" is probably so ridiculously easy that near the end of completion they thought "hey.. why not just throw them in?"

and I think they work wonderfuly.
it's like an extra option such as items that you can choose to turn off or not.

Norm?

Eh, I figured as much for Sonic to be in the game, to be honest. Seeing how that new Wii game (forgot the name) with Sonic and Mario on the cover, they'll throw Sonic into Brawl as well. I just hope he doesn't suck.

STAGE

BUILDER (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/various10.html)

OH MY GOD

If there was one worry I had about this game, it was that the stages revealed had too much going on and and that there was
no room for a good no-bull shit head-on match.

THIS SOLVES ALL OF LIFES PROBLEMS.

I usually hate a shitty stage builder (see Elebits, Time Splitters 2), but I think that in this game it's going to be wonderfully easy to make
a really fun stage.

aaaaaah!

I think it looks great, Nintendo creates games that are fun to play and not ones that take fucking ages to do anything on it. Besides, this way it's still fun and usable by the younger audience, which is good because I can't wait to kick their arses and laugh at them.

I should record a match between my friend and I when I use Peach and he uses Sheik.
faster and better than that video... and i'm not just being arrogant. Honest I'm not.
honestly, I am confident I can beat those 2 players.

and I don't use cheap tactics like ledge-grabbing to kill people.

and the way I see other people wave-dashing when I don't is that they will come to me faster so I can kick their ass faster.

adventure mode is going to be so epic!

you're actually going to play through it like an actual story-line on a game.  You'll meet up with different characters along the way and use them in different situations.

and it's 2 freaking players.

and there are bosses (such as the pokemon, I can only assume, seen in the latest video... anyone care to identify that pokemon? I can't seem to remember its name)

welll they certainly haven't introduced any new characters for quite a while, so i am wondering where you get your information. you believe marth and roy are both returning, but they will not be clones of one another (or ike, for that matter)? It was in an IGN article a while ago but I don't really feel like digging it up. I'm also pretty sure we had a different thread going about it with MK DS or something. Anyway it said every character was returning except for Game and Watch and Young Link who is being replaced with the cel shaded Link.

i appreciate the citing your sources, but that's definitely a year and a half-old post.. i wouldn't trust anything it says. how could they include ridley as a character? maybe as an assist trophy, but the thing is huge.

the article on which that was based, however, said the thing about the clones:

"Les fans de Falco seront aux anges, puisqu’il a aussi confirmé que les personnages qui n’etaient autrefois que des “clones” resteront mais seront retravaillés pour leur offrir un véritable panel de coups."

"Fans of Falco will be thrilled, for he also confirmed that the characters seen as just 'clones' will remain but they will be reworked to give them [their own set of attacks]." (frenchies may correct me on that last bit)

Actually you might be in luck. Wikipedia states: Similarly a representative on behalf of Nintendo of Europe on December 6, 2007 confirmed with the media that the game will not be released until after June 2008. [50] However, a day later, a spokesman refuted these claims insisting that there is currently no solid release date for Europe as yet.[51]

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=177125

My bad about the date I know it's old but I figured it was better than nothing. Even a year later it's still too early to jump to conclusions about the game. :(

I'm liking the new (or old actually) Sonic music. I remember that theme perfectly from when I was a kid. I'd probably cream my pants if they used the Metropolis theme, too. :P

Fuck the captain where's Falco at?

Clones aren't even close to returning as far as I know, so NO FALCO!

And Captain Falcon > Falco. Seriously. :)

Captain Falcon sucks and I'm not sure what you mean about the clones but they're all coming back to brawl, the only difference is they are no longer clones. Maybe I'll show you a thing or two when Brawl comes out. ;)

...what do you mean 'Captain Falcon sucks'?!

And no-one confirmed that all characters are returning. And clone characters have a smaller chance of returning than an original character, because, well, they're clones. :)

Well according to the article Falco has a fairly good chance of returning and he's the only clone I need (well Ganondorf too but not as much). It also states that the clones are being reworked to not be clones so hopefully it will come true. Seriously though when this game comes out we need a MACHINAE TOURNAMENT mwahahahaha. Hopefully Sirix will be back by then. :(

unfortunately Ngamer gave it a 93%, bringing it down to 98% on Game Rankings.
It's still in the running for highest ranked game of all time though.
only 2 others to get that high

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Super Mario Galaxy

also: Lucario detailed this morning on the Dojo.
much more unique character than originally anticipated.

his special move damage goes up as his damage percentage goes up.
I hope they balanced that well oO'

Oh and Sirix I watched that match and I was surprised to see both players actually had some skill. Still, for a championship match they weren't that good. Hopefully there will be better competition online by the time it comes out in North America.

Our matches are going to be good, yes, but I'm hoping we'll make a good team, too. With my old Smash partner in the air force I'm gonna need someone good to play online with since everyone in my school sucks. Actually I heard some kid talking about it yesterday saying how he was going to play online and "own so many kids with his 133t skills." The sad thing is I played him a while ago with a crappy little turbo controller and won with three lives in a five stock match. He later used the controller and wondered how I was even able to play. Same thing with Guitar Hero. Lying about a video game doesn't make your penis bigger! Or does it... <.<

I'll add mine in a little bit. At first I was skeptical of Falco but after beating the Subspace Emissary I've gotten much better with him, and I'm pretty good with Sonic now too. Sirix I should send you the stage I made. It's pretty cool for not having that many parts. :)

get that code up!

I want to fight you tonight ;D

finally!

and yeah, the new Falco is really cool.
I haven't beat the Subspace emissary yet, i'm doing it on Intense mode and with a friend, so I have to wait for him to be around.

I did it on Hard by myself just to get a feel for the game. I want to do intense but I don't have anyone good enough to play with. D=

My friend code is 0130-1505-0418. Sirix send me some stages and I'll send you some because I have a few pretty cool ones. I just got all the parts but I haven't made one since I unlocked them.

Oh yeah I did the first 40 event modes on hard by myself. I guess there's only 41 which is kinda lame but I still can't do the last one on hard. I'll get it eventually!

EDIT: Sirix be sure to add my friend's later so we can all play. :)

EDIT 2: Japanese people can't make stages xD I got this really bad stage from some Japanese dude. It's like a few blocks in the middle and two platforms. What a way to waste my daily stage!

I should be on in a little bit just hang tight! Sorry I was attempting to get caught up in school work and figuring out my plans for tonight so once I get to my friend's house I'll get on. :)

Yeah that was my bad I really wanted to play but I've been busy lately. I'm on right now but if soon isn't convenient I could probably play around 9-10 pm EST tonight.
