Sin City (or the coolest movie of all time)
« on: December 24, 2004, 02:30:32 am »
Robert Rodriguez's new movie is based on Frank Millers excellent comic series Sin City. The series is about many different  stories all taking place in Sin City, and three of those will be in this movie. One were Marv tries to find whoever killed his girlfiend, another where a cop tries to find a yellow serialkiller and a third one that i have no idea what it's about.

I love that the movie has really captured the dark film-noir style of the comic and it really looks awesome. It includes a lot of famous actors too, such as Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Benicio Del Toro, Elijah Wood, Mickey Rourke and  Quenting Tarantino is directing a small part of it.

This movie will kick arse.

Anyways here's a trailer:

Oh, that looks nice. Quite a few hundred tabs above the upcoming Hellblazer movie (I mean, Keanu Reeves as Constantine? And it seems completely actionfied. And cross-shaped shotguns are a weapon for vampire hunters in movies such as From Dusk till Dawn (which I did enjoy when I saw it, maybe 6 years ago); INSERT INTO yabbse_messages (ID_MSG, ID_TOPIC, ID_MEMBER, subject, posterName, posterEmail, posterTime, posterIP, smiliesEnabled, modifiedTime, modifiedName, body, icon, attachmentSize, attachmentFilename) VALUES but not in a Hellblazer movie).

Now that they're working on making movies from alot of good comics, I wonder when they'll come to Sandman? That would be a sad day...

Haven't read Sandman yet, will do someday.

I just hope they won't make a movie out my favourite comic, maybe the best thing i've ever read; Preacher.

That does look really good. When I hear about comic book to film adaptations, it always fill me with fear because of movies like Daredevil.

Hopefully Neil Gaiman would have the sense to not allow anyone to get their hands on Sandman to turn it into a movie [or three], but the Books of Magic and Coraline are already in production :-\

From what I heard, Miller wasn't going to let anyone do an adaption, but Mr. Rodriguez went and did it anyway and went, "Wait, don't sue until you see what I've done."

He liked it so much that the only stipulation was that Miller Co-direct...

And I dunno, done right a Sandman Movie could be good... done right of course.

Well, yeah, obviously. It's a good story. Problem is, they need a geek (or a fanboy, or something) to do things right, and it seems all those who start producing such movies are just there for the money.

Now, if, say, Gaiman himself gets in charge of such a project, the results could be very good.

Yah, that's what I'm saying.  Of coruse, the odds are slim as very few superhero movies are good.  For every spiderman you have a punisher... or heaven forbid, Catwoman...
