Title: The Machinae Forums Group Portrait - Phase One
Post by: Kasumi-Astra on March 03, 2006, 02:52:19 pm
Post a little about yourself, what you like, what you like doing. Help me get a good idea of your character. Please don't post any specific details you want included, I think you'll like the drawing more if it is a suprise :)

Post a photo if you like, but it is not neccessary.

People finished so far:

Laser Akakori
Spunky

(because they're easy)

Oh, and Spunky- I need to know what your favorite food is ;)

Quoted from the MySpace:

Quote from: Myspace
Well gosh. I don't know.

I have massive dreams that come and go. Usually they stick around in the back of my mind... lurking... scheming... plotting... but normally I just forget.

Currently I'm looking into just how possible it would be to set up a record label that doesn't rape the artists half to death, but we'll see.

I'm tempted to say I'm different but I don't know. It's so cliched. I guess I am weird. I always think. I don't think you can ever think too much and anyone who does is severely holding themselves back.

I believe everything is possible. I know I can achieve anything as long as I take an unrealistic/massive dream and break it into totally realistic tasks.

Pretty much does it =)

So I will try to get one of the newbie positions, if any  :)

me, I like Machinae Supremacy  :P

hm pretty hard to think of something that might be relevant, and I don't have a picture of me here (not that I would want to post one publicly..).

hm... I am pretty old compared to the others here it seems, 26, and a physicist (student). I can be both be very rational and very emotional. People call me a little bit crazy...

I look/dress pretty usual, you probably couldn't tell from that I like (some) metal, or anything special at all.

I like...  C64. Thai food (and I am a vegetarian). Games (mostly PC, or Mario Kart 64 for example (Luigi ftw!)). Going out. Karate. My favourite movies usually have an atmospheric soundtrack. I am interested in politics.

maybe that's enough... or even too much...

[Lots of stuff]

I think I like you. Physics student (I'm studying to become a physics engineer, myself), trains karate,a bit crazy, gamer.

For me, I'm pretty sure you've already got a general picture of who I am, Kasumi? Physically, I'm rather short (1,78m) and a bit on the chubby side (95kg, so I can't really complain that I'm fat). Also, my hair is somewhat curly, which is something I find quite cool (especially since I lived some 19 years before I noticed).

Personalitywise, I'm not really as arrogant and haughty as I sometimes come off as. I'm cynical, can be very sarcastic at times, and have a huge sense of self-irony (which is part of the reason I come off as arrogant - I tend to caricaturise myself in forums). I'm a gamer at heart, playing both electronic and non-electronic games, with a preference for the PC in the electronic world, fairly advanced (but not too advanced) strategy games (like Diplomacy, Machiavelli or Illuminati) in the boardgames department, and RPGs in general (though I am no fan of the D&D system). I'm also a horror-fan (as might be deduced from the "Morkel" picture).

I'm also quite verbose.

Also, is 1,78 really that short, nowadays? Damn western fast food, people just get taller and taller. I am 1,79 or 1,80.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away :P

You've got long hair now, instead of short hair in my older drawings. I may have to change you if it's significantly different.
If I colour this at any point, I may have to refrain from colouring Spunky's hair blonde... Because I know things... Mwahaha!

It's slightly below average. But compared to the average of my friends, it is short. This might have something to do with the several friends in the 1,95m+ range, of course.

Aka, at the moment you have shoulder length hair , zigg-zaggy, no pony-tail though. I had real trouble getting your hair right actually, so I may well update you with a pony-tail because it's easier.

About 193cm, 70kg. Longish hair (couple inches past my shoulders) that I usually wear down.

I like information. I do kendo. I am Korean. I often wear hooded sweatshirts and listen to avant-garde muzak.

Feh, perhaps I should expand on my description.

I am 177cm (5"10), have brown hair that, although naturally curled at the bottom, reaches my shoulders.

I game fairly frequently (see the above Bioware quote) and do Taekwondo. I pretty much always wear a black t-shirt of some kind (usually the Deus Ex Machinae tee in fact). I also wear glasses.

Evenin'.

Name's H. Nice to meet you :)

Given enough free time, I love to jam out some metal/Machinae songs on my B.C. Rich Warlock guitar (http://www.geocities.com/sykodx469/Warlock.jpg). Playing music on this 6-stringed beast is such a stress reliever. The fact that I haven't really been able to spend as much time playing as I'd like...upsets me, but this will be changed soon.

When I am not playing guitar, I like to immerse myself in various video games. Currently I am playing Trapt (PS2) & Castlevania: Curse of Darkness (PS2). I have other games I am attempting to play, but I've completely lost track where I was on these games, so I have to start all over x_x

On rare occasions, I like to read random stuff. Terry Pratchett is currently my favorite author, & his book "Soul Music" is quite entertaining :)

Chinese food & certain Italian food (like Lasagna & Chicken Parmigianni) rank up there as all time favorite foods.

I'm 5'9". I have straight just-past-shoulder-length hair. My attire consists of t-shirts that have various quotes on them (such as "I'm Ninja! [you can't see me]", "Better to be an open sinner than a false saint", & "Fsck It!"), and jeans. A few wrist spikes as well, but nothing too extreme, I feel.

On the rare occasion that I get to stay at my computer, image alteration & HTML coding are 2 often-not-practiced hobbies that I like to dabble in :P

I am the occasional drinker, tho I firmly belive that "moderation is the key", whether we're talking alcohol or "other substances". My current fave drinks are Long Island Ice Tea, Armaretto Sour, & Pepsi + Coconut Rum. I steer clear of the "Four Horsemen" shot. That thing is deadly x_x

...I'm usually a fairly quiet person. I don't always have a whole lot to say, but I can get my point across if I need to.

I am the type of person that can get along with anyone, so long as the other person doesn't look at me/treat me like I am some thorn in their side. I absolutely cannot stand judgemental people.

From another shirt that I have: "You say that I'm a sinner, you say that I'm bound for Hell. So when your judgement condemns you, I SHALL SEE YOU THERE."

Even tho it isn't necessary, here is a current pic:
Tis me (http://www.geocities.com/sykodx469/nice_pic.jpg)

That should be it. ;D

18 years and three months wasted. 1.77m or 5'9.5". Born blonde but my aversion to sun light has turned it somewhat black producing a blonde-black combination of colours that everyone insists is grey.

I'm a Star Trek whore and I have been said to look evil (http://ankle.sinistrals.net/misc/pictures/grad.jpg) and undead (http://ankle.sinistrals.net/misc/pictures/lawls2.jpg).

Let's see, I'm quite tall (1.98 m) and thin (80/90-something kg I guess, I don't believe in weighing). I'm currently finishing university (few weeks to go), something between business studies, eBusiness and marketing. I work in IT consulting, that means suit and tie most of the time, which I like, strangely enough. Also makes me look surprisingly unmetal. Basically I try combining striving for a management career while being a gamer/metal at heart, which makes an odd combination. I might appear as somewhat arrogant, especially towards people I don't like. I'm not, though I love keeping that aura towards the mainstream. Cynical and quite sarcastic applies to me as well. At least in my first language I also have a way with words, imagine somewhat like Generalissimo but in German. Here's a tiny photo (http://i2.tinypic.com/qns0v6.jpg).

I'm a tall, plain guy with short hair and sideburns, who at the same time is very shy but loves to play heavy songs on DDR. The moment the song is done and my friend may want to tell me that he was impressed, I hide behind the local furniture and say that I'm not actually good at all, I've just been practicing. In a group picture you'd most likely find me glancing at the closest shy female, for some reason thinking about how there's no way she could ever like me. That's my character in a nutshell, half charicature and mostly true. :p

http://artpad.art.com/gallery/?ivqzp2l1260 this is my troll :P (made ALOT of john bauer / john bauerish drawings awhile ago HE ROCKS!)
im really easy to draw... glasses and long hair (almost to my waist) im a dude not a chick-dude!
my hair is "golden/brown"?! and im kinda pale :P about 180cm i think and like 60kg. well thats me ! i can draw myself if that helps any :)

Even though I aint really posting much I usually just troll around and read every single post because I'm always bored waiting for Redeemer :(

182 cm tall, medium blond hair, usually a hood over my head (too not show (read expose my eyes to the sun) my extremely exhausted eyes from insomnia). Hair goes down to my eyes in length and I may be a bit pale in the skin but.. meh, no sun to get tan from now anyway :P
Like the average person with sacks under his eyes! :o

About ME? well after every cliché you've ever heard about, be it, loving music and videogames and not fitting in, being 'different from everyone else' being a uh 'randy bugger'... then i guess i also talk too much, i smile when people carelessly run into things, i hold the door for people, i can barely dress myself, i like the city but hate all the people, i love to make my friends laugh, simple things make me happy and i think i'd be happy if i were simpler...

I've been a Back to the Future fan since i was 5 y/o... when i was 6 or 7 i pretended to be poor at school to find out who was worth being friends with... i'm allergic to chocolate, citrus(lemons/oranges) and sun burn, everyone i've gotten to know from Australia think i'm awesome, i hope to be king there someday, i hardly sleep at night as it is, i wouldn't even have jet lag!

If i smiled more i might have better pics, but i'd still rather not remember when...

Torp
[Insert pic]
Health: 2000+
Master of the Universe
Machinae Prime
Skill: Better than you in every respect (Instead of his normal attack, Torp may swap health with or use any skill, perk or attack used last round by a character on the opposing team. A health swap lasts until Torp acts again (if the other character is somehow taken out of action before this happens, Torp will keep his new health score), while borrowing a skill, perk or attack only lasts until the start of the opposing players next turn)
Perk: Arrogance (Torp believes that he is better than everybody else, and belives it so strongly he is immune to any attack done towards him by anyone who joined the forums after him, and takes only half damage from attacks made by anybody else. Instant Death attacks do not work (with the exception of Hazuls Speciality, as this instantly kills everybody and ends the game))
Attack: Verbosity (Choose an enemy who does not have the Verbosity skill. If he is below 50% of his health, he dies from boredom. If not, he simply becomes bored from reading a wall of text and may not attack until Torp acts again)
Special: Forum Rulemaker (If you control both Fiindil and Torp, you may use their combined powers to create a pointless rule. This gives you an extra attack with either Fiindil or Torp)

As long as both Rehevkor and A.C. Helm are in battle on your side, they may join up to put down and rip the shit out of the previous attack by a forum member. This will nullify the attack and the 3 following attacks by that member. If the member is of a significantly low level, that member will be discarded from the game.

My card is a joker, or something.

Everybody loses.

Really neat when you are about to lose and you go "HAH"

You can't have that. That power is reserved for Hazuls card (which would of course be a very limited edition card).

And even if you did, my special rule would override it.

Yeah, refic would only be killed by instant-death cards. Like Magicman (that is, Magicmans attack would be instant death).

Gravehill

Forummer of clear thought

Long winded post: Instant death of Radicz0r cards. Deals 500 damage to every other card out in play

UNF: Every FEMALE card instantly switches side, to join in with the UNF

Costner Man Sausage: Swoon ability. All males of questionable sexual preference act as this card's sub-ordinate. All FEMALE cards destroy themselves in an orgasmic frenzy

Smeagol
(http://abbou.de/img/smeagol.jpg)
Spam whore

HP: 5750 (it was around then that I had the Fiindilization)

Giant avatar: Smeagol may throw a giant avatar at any one other card, causing severe Blunt Force Trauma, and retiring that card from play for three turns, as they try to find any text around that huge block of picture.

INCOMPREHENSIBLE POST: 'Smeagol' may create a post with such little content and such disregard for grammar, that it will confuse every single card out in play, thus making them useless, until any CLEAR THOUGHT ability is activated.

king of the lower case: This passive ability renders 'Smeagol' immune to any bad grammar attacks.

Post off: After recovering from the effects of 'on hiatus/on holiday' 'Smeagol' enters into a post off contest. All opponents flip their cards face down and move them around, the owner of 'Smeagol' must choose any one face down card. If Smeagol has a higher HP than the chosen card, that card is destroyed. If not, 'Smeagol' has a sleep effect put upon it, rendering it unusable for 4 turns.
SPECIAL CONDITION: If the chosen card is 'VisionThing', both cards are unusable for 12 turns. (Yes, even here, I reference the 12 hour posting session)

Morph: If the 'Fiindil' card is played anywhere, 'Smeagol' is instantly destroyed.

Burn in hell, spamwhore

The chosen seven are:

Spider Chii, Laser, Spunky, Myself (because those are the ones I can easily do away from this thread for reference), Ankle, Trezker and Flindil.

The GIMP takes some getting used to. It's been very slow writing to the history today, but it's improved a little this evening. I dislike the lack of any easy way to resize brushes, but the paths and stroking interface is a bit simpler than Photoshop. I've been trying to ween myself off Photoshop, because there isn't going to be a universal version for the Mac for ages, and I strongly disagree with their pricing. I also disagree with their cynical attempt to buy pirates out with Elements. Grr.

The scans won't be in yet. Not 'till everyone is done. It's going to be a while, but once all the scans are finished, all it needs is some scanning in, a little manipulation to clean away smudges and then piece it all together. No plans to CG yet, that'll be a monster job :P

Maybe it was a horrible mutated unholy crossbreed between a duck and a hooker. Like Daisy Duck.

Bud dum bum...

I really think that raises more questions than it answers.

so hold on... a duck had a hooker? that's one kinky duck.

He did something to a duck comma with a hooker. I'm not english, but my grammar sense tells me that's like saying he did something with a hooker to a duck.

Also, VT looks less like Manson than he does a friend of mine.

"They" is a perfectly valid 3rd-person singular pronoun. Of course, rad should have known that she was indeed a she, but it's no more offensive than calling a cat "it" if you can't tell.

They're not making fun of you. They're making fun with you.

Seriously, we are not very serious people. We are like one good old happy gang of friends, who poke fun at each others characteristics all the time. Don't feel offended. Just poke back. I can't give any tips about Moheeheeko or SpeedD, but Aka has a daydream about being a girl*. I'm sure you can use that to poke fun with him. In a friendly way, of course. Actual, meanspirited comments will start a campaign for the deletion of your account and probably also the forfeition of your life (there are enough scandinavian or finlandian members here to carry out the sentence, and we're all fanatically loyal).

*This is not weird. Half the forum have something like it, it seems. And I like it.

Hehe :-) It's nice to see you back as well, Fiindil ;)

I'll do some more during my breaks at work next week sometime. I'll give you a sneak peak of what's been keeping me busy in the mean time. This is a picture, an avatar if you will, of SpiderChii for a new joint blog I'm making. Her blog is going to become a joint gaming news/opinion blog and mine is going to become an art blog where I post up all my latest pictures. The sort of content I'm aiming for is roughly like Sky Lounge Garden (and Sea Lounge Garden? Maybe- hehehe).

This is only half the picture so far, I've drawn an avatar of myself as well (in a Sega Saturn theme costume ^_^) and hopefully they'll sit side by side in the title of the blog. It's not finished yet- it needs a lot of cleaning up and the wristgard and boots need finishing. I'll leave that 'till another day though.

The arm on the othe picture is a bit better. I might overlay it over the the arm in this picture. I'm getting better at the arms and hands. It's very difficult to get the proportions and angles right. Not only that, but it takes a lot longer to ink the more precise, complex shape. This picture alone has taken me about eight hours at least to sketch, ink and colour. I started the sketch last Saturday morning, and I've spent roughly four evenings in Photoshop putting the colour in. My second picture took about an hour and a half to ink tonight.

Melting most things usually smells surely.. of something, i mean .. yeah, only thing entertaining.. and it would be only shortly entertaing.. about a melted keyboard is the prospect of having a giant one button pad instead of a multi button pad.. or keyboard, but with enough melting it would truly be, a keyboard.

Makes you wonder why they dont call it "lots of keys on a board.. board.." then you realise, they already got that copyrighted in Ughandai, *shakes fist*

I'd imagine that would be something like family guy,... like the time I forgot how to sit in a chair. Think of a waltdisney sing/song type movie where the characters break out into song and dance every 5 minutes. Replace the song and dance with randomness and you'd have a show. Maybe a bollywood film might be more suitable for this .

(TV announcer guy with trademark deep voice)
MONDAY ON AN ALL NEW MACHINAE FORUM EPISODE...
(Machinae Supremacy soundtrack plays in the background)
...AS THE NEW MODS RISE TO POWER...
(clips of Laser firing semiautomatic guns woo-style, VT writing "Helter Skelter" in blood onto a refrigerator, Megadokyo shining an oversized knife)
...A LEGEND RETURNS
(shot of newbs celebrating Fiindil, who appears as a sort of religious leader)

instant emmy success.

Ok, I'm at work, and I've brough my pad with me. Lunch has now finished.

People now drawn (Not in the order of the thread, but I've done the ones with easy inspiration first)

Myself,
SpiderChii,
Laser Akakori,
Spunky,
Trezker,
Ankle,
Smeagol (I get that right?),
Trias,
Rad,
Vision Thing.

I might not do three more tomorrow, because Friday is pub day and takes up our lunchbreak.

There were so many post on the last page that deserved an applaud. Unfortunately, so far only Rad has gotten one. He is a comic genius.

Also, I should go to bed. And the time would have been 1AM in real real[/i] time. UTC, that is. Only UTC counts.

But isn\'t GMT the one everyone else bases their clocks off of?
Title: Re: The Machinae Forums Group Portrait - Phase One
Post by: Torp v2.0 on May 22, 2006, 09:49:49 am
No, that's a common misconception. GMT is the current time at the Greenwich Meridian. This time code includes British Summer Time. The Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) is the one people actually bases their time off of. They just don't know it. Of course, half of the time (the winter half), GMT is UT0 (or UTC+0), and essentially the same.

It would be stupid to base ones time on a time code that changes according to the seasons. Especially since summer time starts at different times throughout the world (though Europe, I think, have coordinated their summer times).

I like the YYYY,MM,DD format, because it keeps all your files in order when you name them as such.

I also like the PHP date format, which is the number of seconds since a certain date. You'll never get mixed up then, and it can be easily converted to any other date format.

If you want to confuse, use mmddyy. Like 052306. 04152006 doesn't stand a chance. Especially if it's the twentieth. 052006. Well, at least you would then find the month and the year.

Or, if you really want to confuse, ddyymm. 230605. And 200605.

The Japanese usually write dates as yy.mm.dd (e.g. 06.05.24). I think it makes the most sense. Europeans use the nice ddmmyy. The American way of mmddyy is just stupid - I think it was just a new founder way of saying \"we are not European, therefore we shall write dates differently, play football by using our hands and use dash inappropriately like this-lol.\"
Title: Re: The Machinae Forums Group Portrait - Phase One

How dare you! - Insult our dash usage?! - WHAT? - Football with hands = handball! - But now there is a separate sport named handball! - What is the world coming to?

Whatever makes things easier to organize is the way it should go. I say yyyy/mm/dd.

OH REALLY
