I follow her entire way down to last word. Yes. Genre's are necessarity for mankind to label things and put them neatly on different shelfs. It's just to protect innocent ;) I don't like labeling 'cause most of bands cannot be labeled. That's 'cause bands forms of individuals and individuals cannot be labeled. But you have to label things 'cause otherwise you don't know if it's bitter jam or sweet jam on the jar. And someone might be allergic to some jam. But when you know what you like and how does it seem and smell you don't need labels anymore. Just enjoy and leave other jars to people who must still read etiquette to know what it's like. Those people do not (most of times) have courage to taste little from every jar and they like to trust labels someone put them. I enjoy tasting several jars 'cause you always find some SWEET flavours you like and want to keep. But sidmetal is good 'cause there ain't such genre yet and I hope that there's people curious enough to taste it...Maybe I'm too optimistic but that's the way I think about it.

Does such things as genres still exist? Maybe I'm not with you on this but genres just put everything into....genres... I have some difficulties to put names on everything involving esthetics such as in music or art for example, It makes things stiffen up to much and it's not fun.... :P  ;)

*sobella likes curves and chaos  :D

edit; ok, I don't know what I'm talking about here really, there are differences between metal and opera (or is there? mathematicly there isn't, or is there?) It's a good thing with chaos anyway - I hate law and order :D

*and sobella gets herself confused again! uh, and without anyone helping her.....................aaaaaaaarrrgggggh i'm weird i'm weird!  ::)  ;D  :D  :-X

I applaud you for that "law and order"-bit... I'm very much like that myself.  ;)
And I do agree that genres are too confining, whatever you choose... We've been asked the genre question so many times it's sickening (and I guess that's why it's an issue on this forum... no one bloody knows) ...

To me, it seems like I could find answers to the genre question if I were allowed to look at individual songs, but not an overall genre...

Some bands though, who have the same beat, the same chorus and the same layout of every song probably deserve to be gen(e)ralized and labelled in that way.

I didn't say Linkin Park but you thought it! I kn0w j00 did!

Gravehill, perhaps it's time for an official machinae announcement.

"Try and label us, you bitchez". <-- here goes.
You and Sobella has made me realize what I'm going to answer the next time someone asks what genre machinae belongs to...

"Machinae Supremacy is beyond genres."

Thank you guys.

Cause machinae dodges genre labels like those matrix-Oppers dodge bullets. Feel that.  ;D

I think that there's no need to be sorry. Every idea is golden one. If your idea would not have come up how we would know how we feel about it? I think that being creative and letting you mind fly is good thing. Sure, someday someone might laugh at them but so they did to Galileo and Einstein too! If you have open mind you might find true gem someday. Holding back just make you lose power reserves so let them come out, your ideas I mean! And if someone have good idea from something you said even better!

the reason i like machinae so much is because they can't be easily put into one genre or another....theres nothing I like more than a band with a good healthy dose of originality!

Or Culture Metal? 'Cause Machinae gets various influences from all aspects of culture. I think that sounds little snobbish  though. Or how about Action Metal?
