*sigh*
So the basterds are at it again. Now, whith Kim Jong Il dead, we're one more step away from being free of the corrupt imperialist bitches and ofc that's when something like this surfaces.
... I guess it's about time to load up the loic again and burn som holes on the interwebs.

Didn't they already do that?

Reddit is also doing it.
It makes me proud to see that even these big sites have the balls to speak up against this atrocity of a legislation.
I'm just hoping the activism won't fade away too quickly after SOPA and PIPA have been disposed.
There are several countries that already have these kinda laws in operation and someone needs to take the fight to them.

Another interesting action btw is Penny Arcade calling for an E3 boycott due to ESA supporting SOPA.

It's like arresting people running the post, because someone sent me a package of copied CDs.

Who cares what Anons took down? Innocent people are being arrested just because we had our fapping material for quick and fast download. In the country of democracy and law, which is America.

There are more than one side of the coin when it comes to the MU debacle. Read a bit more here: http://gizmodo.com/5877836/why-did-the-feds-choose-megaupload-and-why-now

The MU guys were actually quite crooky. Those guys made a shit-ton of cash on that site, and while it is used extensively for "legitimate" things, most of MU's traffic were pirated goods. And at least in my book, piracy is OK unless you profit on it.

However, what I find worrying is that American law enforcement managed to concert such a huge international effort on a crime which does not involve dangerous individuals. This was not a US-based site.
And the proposed sentence: 20 years in prison? That's a kind of punishment that should be reserved for murderers and serial rapists.

Thanks, evilcandybag, that was an insightful read. Always good to see the second side of the problem.

In actual news, am I wrong or was SOPA screwed today?

I'd say it will resurface soon enough a little reworked and perhaps with another name.
