In Flames - Sounds Of A Playground Fading
« on: June 13, 2011, 01:02:38 am »
Just started listening, sounds pretty damn awesome so far. Favourite songs / opinions?

Just noticed, possible SID arps in the title song. Either SID arps or guitar arps played so fast they sound like SID. Either way, love it.

They don't sound like In Flames anymore :-/
I miss songs like "Clayman" "Only for the weak" and stuff. :(

Listened to it for a bit and enjoyed it, but then realized that if you skip through a few songs they all start to sound the exact same...and then there were attic and jesters door which were...nothing really.

That was my impression for the first time I listened to it... but after the second, closer listening Where The Dead Ships Dwell, Darker Times, Ropes, and the Puzzle are now among my favorite songs. Quite an awesome album really, but it sure changes from older In Flames - but not a bad change. In Flames are awesome in general.

Nearly as good as MaSu.

I liked "Deliver Us", but the rest is kinda boring. It's not really bad, just nothing exciting.
We're open to such things, we've even talked many times about doing it with Inja, but in a way that's redundant because we can already get Erica

They should have disbanded after Reroute to Remain. Ugh.

Some of the tracks have good parts in them, but overall it's a bit disappointing... And I'm not one of those "In Flames should have stopped after Clayman" haters; in fact, I listen almost only to their "newer" stuff. But as far as I really enjoy albums like Soundtrack to Your Escape or Reroute to Remain, the latest one is a bit... mediocre? None of the songs have greater power or vibe than some previous ones. Cloud Connected is in my opinion better than Deliver Us, and Evil in a Closet gets to me more than The Jester's Door which tries to be very dark and so. But I guess I can blame my disappointment partially on the same thing that caused half the fans to bitch about Reroute to Remain when it was released - fans simply don't appreciate when bands change.

Well, MaSu has also songs that are basically nothing, like the Cavern of lost time and Prelude to Empire. :P
I actually liked this album alot, though I have listened to it for just few times. Yes, it doesn't have those ├╝bergood tracks, but I definitely reckognice this as In Flames. It is true also that some of the tracks are "lame", but they'll prolly be growing better in time, liek sum MaSu tracks.
Lurkkers gonna lurk.

Am I the only one who noticed certain references to MaSu in lyrics? :P

Like "Fly into the distance" = "Fly in space"?

"Tried to paint the picture","We are ghosts of a concrete world","Guess I was part of a plan","It will never be okay", "dive head first into the fire", "Waiting for a final blow" and some more could just be more than coincidence.

Every time I listen to A New Dawn, this is first what comes to my mind:

I dreamed that you had died
I'm forever alone

I gave it a listen. The only track that really stood out to me was Fear is the Weakness, but I do agree with the other comments already made here. Sure, it sounds like everything else In Flames has put out recently, but I do miss the older songs such as Only for the Weak.
