Cylons vs. Borg
« on: January 07, 2010, 05:16:13 pm »
Ok, so i saw this discussion here:
http://forums.spacebattles.com/showthread.php?t=86724
and here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x2440687.
So, who would win from a purely logical standpoint?

Here are some of the cylon pro's:

-No phasers, only rockets (kinetic weapons, the Centurions have guns)

-Nukes

-Quite a big fleet (124 basestars + cylon colony + raiders and heavy raiders)

-Hacking technology

-12 planets under control (Destruction + taking of the 12 Colonies)

Here some info about them, if you truly want to know everything:

http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Cylons_(RDM)

I'm talking about the cylons in the new series, not the old one. Since i know nothing about Borg, i hope you guys do and then we can have a discussion hopefully.

That's the problem with heroes, really. Their only purpose in life is to thwart others. They make no plans, develop no strategies. They react instead of act. Without villains, heroes would stagnate. Without heroes, villains would be running the world. Heroes have morals. Villains have work ethic.

Well, the borg has a massive amount of cpu power to direct att whatever they choose.
The borg are virtually immune to kinetic weapons and adapt to energy weapons faster then cylons can change the frequencies.
Their biggest pro is the nanites.
The first cylon that gets infected makes the rest of the race toast since they have sentient spaceships and such.

How disgustingly heterosexual.
We're open to such things, we've even talked many times about doing it with Inja, but in a way that's redundant because we can already get Erica

I like women.

I like the way this thread is heading.

Also, agreed.

Oh, and Crazywater, not necessarily. It could also be disgustingly bisexual.

Weren't they virtually immune to energy weapons?
I mean, 1 nuke against a Borg cube would certianly destroy it, and it doesn't have much technology in it, meaning it is nearly impossible to hack and destroy the missile. The projectiles in BSG go over 1500 KM/S,  making them extremely hard to intercept.

Furthermore, the cylons have (like i said before) hacking technology (more like a 'virus') that makes enemy technology 'ill' (meaning that computers are taken over, weapons system not working etc.).

We probably need the number of units the Borg fleet has in order to make a logical winner.

The borg may beat the cylons, but a black hole beats everyone.

I think the hacking technology wouldn't be very effective against the Borg. It'd be more like:
"Ohh, 'puters, let's haxx!"
"Hey haxxors techie, join us in assimilating all the meatbags and conquering the universe!"
"Sounds cool, when do I start?"

About the size of the Borg fleet:
The whole point of them is that nobody knows how many there are, or how long they've gone on assimilating organic life.

Yeah that would probably happen, since most cylons hate human in every possible way.

And a black hole would truly pwn them all.

...But still, i think Borg can't assimilate against a blunt object, and a kinetic gun is (i think) a blunt object, only  it's going forward with great speed and exploding.
