Who on this forum believes the world is going to end in 2012? Not me, science has proven it won't happen.

While what you say isn't actually true, no, I don't believe the world will end in 2012.

... whut?

Oh, the mayan calendar shit. Meh. The mayan calendar just ends that day, it doesn't mention any prophecies about the end of the world or stuff like that (except for one possible vague reference). And even if it did? So what? The world is full of crackpot theories about when the world will end - always have been, and always will. None have (obviously) been proven correct so far :P

Well, people also cite "Merlin," Nostradamus, The Bible and the I Ching as references. However, in most cases the ways they arrived at the date are so convoluted that by the point they find anything they really were just looking for anything to support their ideas.

I myself think it's just a stupid idea like the Y2K theory. Besides... the world can't end before we have cybernetic bodies like Ghost In The Shell. :( That would make me sad.
That's the problem with heroes, really. Their only purpose in life is to thwart others. They make no plans, develop no strategies. They react instead of act. Without villains, heroes would stagnate. Without heroes, villains would be running the world. Heroes have morals. Villains have work ethic.

My explanation - a civilisation, which existed a who the fuck knows how long time ago didn't need a calendar which exceeds beyond a who the fuck knows how distant point in the far, far future.
Like why should I need a calendar for year 3244 right now?
My 3243 calendar is sufficient.
