Good 8-bit tracker
« on: August 18, 2009, 11:06:11 pm »
I wonna try making 8-bit music.
So i need or electro-piano(sorry,forgot its usual name),or a program.
I have no place for piano, but cant find simple 8-bit tracker propgram.
So what directly i need-a program that works like a piano but instead of piano is the keyboard.
I will be glad for any help)

Here are tutorials from another tracker that basicly works the same (except for the NES-sounds):
http://www.madtracker.org/documents/quickstart.xml

And some help regarding the famitracker:

If you want only 8 bit free trackers :

http://woolyss.com/tracking-trackers.php

Else, you can use trackers using samples :

Good luck !  ;)

I think today, it's not the easy way to learn on oldschool audio trackers.

Fastracker 2 was good but today, I think OpenMPT (Modplug Tracker), MilkyTracker, Renoise (shareware), NitroTracker, LSDJ are the best way to learn to compose on audio trackers.

If the computer works better on DOS, try Fastracker2.

On Windows, prefer OpenMPT (Modplug Tracker) or MilkyTracker.
On Mac, choose Renoise.
And on Linux, try MilkyTracker.

Renoise is the best audio tracker. Not free, but works on Windows, Mac and Linux.

Yeah, I also recommend Renoise. It's really really powerful.

Actually a already use it)
i like its piano mode, but i dont know where i can get the true SID sound.
just compare 8-bit and SID-bited sound(maybe it consists of many sounds,i just wonna try to repeat it)

On this website, look at VST plugins C64 soundchip emulation

http://woolyss.com/chipmusic-plugins.php?s=commodore

Basic64, MiniSID, DR-SID, Pure64, SID Monster... All are free.

If you want the best, there is the shareware : QuadraSID
