Top 10 Albums 2008
« on: January 07, 2009, 12:22:33 pm »
1. Winds Of Plague - Decimate The Weak
Totally brutal album, filled with awesome riffs and wicked leads.

2. Misery Signals - Controller
This album is really one of the best up there, melodic math metal, or what ever you want to call it, this one listens away like a breeze and the songs will stay stuck in your head for hours.
I can't stress this enough, LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM =)

3. All Shall Perish - Awaken The Dreamers
Holy shit, these guys have really improved so much after "The Price Of Existence" and man, can you hear it.

4. Black Stone Cherry - Folklore & Superstition
Best album in the Rock departement

5. The Ghost Inside - Fury And The Fallen Ones
Great hardcore album. Solid, fast, and tough as nails.

6. The Haunted - Versus
This one kind of grows on you after a few listens. The reason its on #6 is because it doesn't really wear off.

7. Austrian Death Machine - Total Brootal
Here's to keeping metal fun and interesting. Some good tracks, like "I am a war machine" Or what ever the name is.

8. Opeth - Watershed
Amazing musicianship and melody. Combined with a dose of insanity and heavyness makes a killer album.

9. All That Remains - Overcome
Melodic metalcore with enough heavyness to go around

10. 36 Crazyfists - The Tide And Its Takers
Really good album from the dudes from Alaska.

Honorable mentions : Gojira - The Way Of All Flesh

My top 5 2008 when looking at my CD collection right now... no special order, except for the first one.

Machinae Supremacy - Overworld
According to my diary, I listened to it the first time on 15.02.08. I'll leave you with that disturbing piece of fanboy information.

Within Temptation - Black Symphony
Maybe live albums don't count, but I consider this to even better than Metallica's S&M

Dark Tranquillity - Fiction Expanded Edition
Maybe special editions don't count, but Fiction easily makes it into my all time top ten.

In Flames - A Sense of Purpose
Every once in a while, I like to listen to Emo Pop. Nah, just kidding. Very good album.

Cradle of Filth - Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder
Usually I'm not a big fan of concept albums (with a storyline and so forth), but this one is excellent and exactly the stuff I expect from Cradle.

Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God
Vikings.
