I want to make an RPG.
Lysix:
As the title says.
I've recently really wanted to just..make a game. Obviously, I'm too dumb to master coding at such a level where i could make a jaw droppingly amazing game, so i've resorted to using rpg maker 2003. Why not VX or XP? Well, i like the older graphics style 2003 uses, and there aren't alot of decent resources out there for the newer versions.
XP is good, better then VX, so if i REALLY have to i'd make the switch. This obviously depends on if i manage to ever find decent tile sets.
I think it'd be set in the future, because that's what i'd be most interested to make. I want it to be a fairly lengthy game with a compelling storyline and memorable characters. Unfortunately, i'd stick to the basic battle system as my focus isn't on the incredible gameplay. I think if i master the story it'd be alright.
Would anybody like to test this when i get a demo going? I'd love to have community feedback, maybe even help with a soundtrack?
Thanks!

Bocom:
Definitely, man. :D
Of course, I am more comfortable with XP and VX (The Ruby programming is just too good to pass off, but that's the programmer in me speaking), but I've used every PC RPG Maker made by Enterbrain/ASCII since version 95. so if you need any help, just ask. :)
(I am not going to tell you to not use RPG Maker, I am not that elitist of a programmer. ;))
Lysix:
The thing is, i can find plenty of decent tilesets and resources for 2k3, but then i obviously lose the scripting side.
Alternatively, i can us XP, and lose all the decent resources i have lined up. I can't seem to find any decent things for what i want, and i dont have the time to make my own, so..
Confused.

You can mix it. Use the advanced scripting side of XP, but use the resources of 2003. The only thing VX has that is "better" than XP is that the scripting version is higher, other than that, it's kind of restricted, so I'd say go for XP.
At least IIRC you can use 2003 resources without problems in XP, that's how I remembered it at least.
