What's the scariest movie you've seen?

As the topic says.

I'm gonna have a movie-night in a while, and I could use some help picking out the absolute scariest movies there is. NOTHING IS TOO MUCH!

Now please note that I'm not just looking for a blood/gore-movie like "Hostel". Although you can write about those too. I'm looking for a movie with actual acting and good story.

So, think you can help? ;)

"Alone In The Dark" by Uwe Boll. It's very, very scary. Not in the way scary is supposed to be used. XD

Fine, fine, if you're like me and Japanese horror films scare the shit out of you, then go on to watching the original versions of The Ring and Ring 2

I'm going to reccomend the original original Ju-On.

For reference, the Ju-On series consists of five movies so far, as far as I remember:

Ju-On: The Curse (made-for-tv, extremely creepy low budget)
Ju-On: THe Curse 2 (unknown)
Ju-On: The Grudge (creepy, absolutely worth a watch, remake of the original, better SFX and stuff, but something is lost)
Ju-On: The Grudge 2 (remake of Curse 2, no clue how good it is)
The Grudge (american remake, supposedly rather good, stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, same director as the original movies. Haven't seen)

I'm also going to namedrop a movie which I really, really, really want to see: The Woman in Black. If you manage to get your filthy hands on this movie, I order you to make me a copy. It's a british made-for-TV horror movie based upon the book and play by the same name. I know folks who have seen the play and been thouroughly scared, and the movie is rumoured to be in a league above the play again. To quote a review from IMDb:

The Woman In Black sounds interesting. *nabs*


For myself... well, I seldom watch horror movies. The Shining was good and nicely scary, though.

also, gorey films suck big time. Much more fun with a subdued psychological one that uses the sheer atmosphere to scare the bejezus out of you, than with a full-on massacrefest. BUCKITS URV BLURD IZ NOT SKERY!

DUDDEZ!! REC and The orphanage.. DUDZZ they are shit scary :'( I saw REC with erica.. And well. U can always ask her.. I scared the shit out of her. Cos the movie scared the shit out of me :(:(.. See it and luuuuv it! Or.. yea.. !! DO IT!

I have the Orphanage, and I'm planning to watch it soon. Can't reccomend it as I haven't seen it yet, but I'm sure I'll like it a lot. It's from del Toro, and, I mean, look at two other horrorish movies he's made: Pan's Labyrinth and the Devil's Backbone.

Pan's labyrinth didn't quite seem even horror-ish to me.
