An interesting article about the industry
« on: March 11, 2008, 06:04:42 pm »
I found the link to this article in a discussion about the state of the anime industry of all things. It is, however, a break down of how a stereotypical new young-n-spunky American "rock" band's funding is distributed and how much the band members get at the end of it all. It's not a pretty sight.

What's all this about "points"? Percentage points of royalties perhaps?

By now all rock bands are wise enough to be suspicious of music industry scum. There is a pervasive caricature in popular culture of a portly, middle aged ex-hipster talking a mile-a-minute, using outdated jargon and calling everybody "baby." After meeting "their" A&R guy, the band will say to themselves and everyone else, "He's not like a record company guy at all! He's like one of us." And they will be right. That's one of the reasons he was hired.
Reminds me of Machinae Supremacy.
We're open to such things, we've even talked many times about doing it with Inja, but in a way that's redundant because we can already get Erica
