Amp for beginner
« on: February 29, 2008, 11:13:39 am »
Yo,

My bro just bought himself a new guitar, so I got his ol' one to practice on. (it's an ol' sigma if you wondered).Thinking of getting an amp, I'm just wondering, what amp would you experienced guys recommend me, from a student's budget point of view ;) (what other things would you recommend a newbie guitarist to get)

Hehe, I knew it was comming.
Well, I prefer teh amp modeller stuff.

As always, the best way is of course to go to a local music store and try some shit.

I'd say to start off with a regular ol' practice amp, just to make sure you actually enjoy the instrument first. :P Kustom makes good amps with pretty competitive prices. The higher-powered models use Celestion speakers like Mesa Boogie and whatnot. I'd recommend this one.
That's the problem with heroes, really. Their only purpose in life is to thwart others. They make no plans, develop no strategies. They react instead of act. Without villains, heroes would stagnate. Without heroes, villains would be running the world. Heroes have morals. Villains have work ethic.

I decided on the Line 6 Spider III 15W, due to it's possibilities for adding some
effects, and price-range :P Not easy being a student these days >-<

BTW - can you chainconnect an amp to a bigger speaker system? How does that work when it comes to soundlevels?

Yes, it should work fine. Be careful with using way too much base though, or you might blow your speakers.
