Poll

I buy music...

never, buying music is for queers
only after I download it and decide I like it
After i've seen a music video on youtube or TV
after I hear a few samples on myspace or otherwise
on impulse at a music store
not. I download because of money issues.

In light of the discussion in the Gene Simmons thread, and Alix's challenge on Somethingapt's claim (found here)

I created this poll.

if there is any option up there that you feel should replace another just let me know, I just came up with this in 20 seconds.

There are different situations that concerns me.
It can be after I listened to a band's myspace.
It can be after I downloaded an album because of the advices of friends.
It can be an impulsion because it's a band I love or anything else ("hey, this cover is awesome !").
I can choose one, multiple choices could be better. :P
OMFG LEGO Machinae !

I'm all for the "try before you buy" kinda thing. Just like buying cars, or something.

It all depends on the money, too, actually. Like, I can't afford to buy all the CDs I have in my music folder. I can barely afford to buy five of them, but I'm not going to let that stop me from enjoying myself.

Maybe money issues should be an answer, Sirix?

You should add a option "I buy all my music"
 ;)

I don't think so. I mean, I don't go into stores and shove CDs down my shirt because I want them. I'll share music with friends and stuff, just like sharing a drink at a McDonald's so you don't have to spend any extra money. I plan on buying most of it, anyway, like, if I have more than 10 or so songs from an artist, I'd buy their CD(s) but not if I only have one or two.

If it's a band I really love, I buy their stuff no matter what; otherwise I "try before I buy".
That's the problem with heroes, really. Their only purpose in life is to thwart others. They make no plans, develop no strategies. They react instead of act. Without villains, heroes would stagnate. Without heroes, villains would be running the world. Heroes have morals. Villains have work ethic.

If I've heard a band before and I really like their stuff, and I'm in a music store, there's a chance I'll buy an album on impulse (If I have money).

It sorta is. Yeah, you're right, but at least then I don't feel bad because I'm not directly taking the income away from the actual store! :D

That doesn't bother me so much. I'm sure they're still able to survive. I don't like people who steals from stores. >:

I guess that's kind of silly logic considering I 'steal' music. But meh. I PROMISE YOU DEAREST ALE(I)X. I SHALL BUY MUSIC ONE DAY!

If your intentions are good, what's the difference between a sample and the full song? Wait never mind, one leaves you very unsatisfied, bored and disappointed... which ever one it is depends on the band I guess as well.

And it's not stealing! IT'S BEING A PIRATE YARRRR without the rape and alcohol
But if one day we meet together while I'm drunk, I promise you to draw a big group sex picture including a lot of forumites. :D
