Zepto Notebooks?
« on: September 10, 2007, 06:59:43 pm »
I want to get a notebook, one that can handle my current games reasonably, and have been drawn to Zepto for their price and performance. Specifically the Znote 6625WD or something, and the only compromises I can see for the price with such performance appears to be the keyboard. And battery life, but it's goign to be more of a portable desktop than anything else...

Buuuut, anyone know much about this company? I figure you may, as it's European, and most of you are European :D And problems with them or any significant reason not to buy from them?

That. I came. Which is why I want to know if anyone's got any experience with the company or their products...

thats awfully cheap for a gaming laptop, id reckon. it only has 1gb of ram too, but then with an 8600 things could be worse.
ive never heard of that site before, but for the price you're paying its reasonable.
i bought my computer from www.overclockers.co.uk, have you taken a look at the laptops they have there?

I was looking to customise it to somewhere in the region of £850, with 2 gigs of ram and a 2.2GHz Core 2 duo. For the lulz.

But I'll check out overclockers.

My best friend actually has a 6625WD and I can only recommend it (so can he).

Oh, did I mention Zepto computers are good? :P

i have an 256 mb 8600m gs now, and while it may not be as top-of-the-line as possible, i'm rippin through oblivion with decent settings. and i think the gt is slightly better (though that specs list suspiciously neglects to mention how much video memory there is).

upgrading the ram and processor should do it; upgrade the ram as far as possible, as i believe my 2 GB are the bottleneck. also, i assume you were gonna get xp as opposed to vista. if not, do so (at least until the first vista service pack).

im gonna go against you here and say get vista. ive had no problems at all with it, despite plenty of people aimlessly bashing it down. but its your call, just ignore this is you're a vista hater already :)

kk. despite the fact it hasnt crashed once, i havent had any program compatability issues with it and actually works faster than xp does :P
but if you wanna throw un-constructive comments about stuff, feel free! xD

my vista is currently crashing for the third time today.. the problem this time is that i put a dvd in.

i was never a vista hater and i'm still not. but the same amount of horsepower doesn't seem to go quite as far, and all the extra security stuff is a pain. i haven't had compatibility issues either, but i have not personally benefited from any of the new things it has either.

the security stuff is a bit too overprotective, i'll admit, but alot of it is easily disabled. i dont have automatic updates turned on (i just sift through them and choose the most appealing ones) and theres an option to disable the feature where it constantly asks for your permission to do something.
other than that, the only major problem i've had is when the graphics card completely fucked itself over, but that was a nvidia thing regarding the shitty PSU i was supplied with.
besides, i love the aero interface!

well, its just all you seem to say its that its "shit" and nothing more..so..
