changing pickups
allochthomas:
i recently bought an esp LTD MH-250, its a really great guitar, but im not that happy about the pickups.
its got 2 EMG-ESP LH-300's.
the sound they produce isn't really matching my playing style, they sound horrible when fast picking eg a blind guardian soun.
i need something that sounds a bit warmer.
i was thinking about DiMarzio DP213 PAF for neck and DiMarzio DP153 Fred for bridge.
you guys got any advice on those pickups and others you recomend, and any tips on how to change them on my own without fucking up my guitar?(i'd kill myself if id break something on my guitar :P)
Zach:
It all depends on your personal preference, really. Fred's are a little too mid-ish for me. If it's for warmness you're looking for though, the Fred's probably the way to go. PAF's are probably well-suited, but I can't really say, considering none of my guitars have PAFs. (Evos > all, imo c.c)
Jack Lupino:
Personally i think EMG's sound awesome. But you have to keep in mind that your guitar body, wood, and all kinds of other aspects define your sound.
