Left 4 Dead

Anyone ever heard of this? Sounds like an interesting concept:

What is Left 4 Dead? - Left 4 Dead is a multiplayer cooperative survival horror shooter in development by Turtle Rock Studios and Valve Corporation based on the Source engine to be released Summer 2007 on the PC and Winter 2007 on the Xbox 360.

Cooperative survival horror shooter? - You play as one of four Survivors that must work together to survive. Most levels have your team of 4 trying to go from point A to B, during which you will be attacked by an onslaught of the Infected (zombies). The pacing has been described as like Counter-Strike Source. Teammates will need to work together by not only just shooting enemies, but by having the ability to heal each other, help each other climb up ledges, pick each other up when one gets knocked down, etc.

Zombies? - The Infected. They are not undead or reanimated corpses.. they are human victims of a new rabies virus which makes them extremely aggressive and mindless. They are not slow hulking movie-type zombies, but fast (think 28 Days Later), vicious and smart. In addition to the hordes of AI controlled infected (reports say up to 40 can be seen at once), there will also be four "boss infected" characters that will either be controlled by AI or by real players, depending on the number of people on the server. These four are the Boomer, Hunter, Smoker and Tank.

Hehe. It sounds fun, though.

Also, Boomer is a rather cute asian cylon. Stop stealing such names :P

Co-operative mods are always my favourites, and this appears to be no exception, can't wait ;D
But if one day we meet together while I'm drunk, I promise you to draw a big group sex picture including a lot of forumites. :D

Played it today, here's my small light review.

It's brilliant, the movement of the zombies is horrifying and when they run at you it's truly terrifying to a certain degree in some cases. There are a good variety of zombies too, and i am pretty sure you're always on foot with your AI or (preferably) mates on LAN/Internetz. You really feel like part of a team as well, it's quite brilliant, and jumpy too. Weapons feel good, though i've only tried a few, and there is (as always with good Steam games) a list of challenges you can achieve along the way.

As for online coop or versus, i don't know yet but apparently THAT is supposed to be the highlight of the game, and if it is, then we have an amazingly zombietastic game on our hands. I highly recommend it.

Now, i could only see fallout 3 in the shop today so i bought that.. but GET LEFT FOR DEAD ALSO!

Oh man... I don't even remember making this topic o_O

But yeah, tried playing the demo while it was available... but Steam sucked and disconnected me and Asor every time we tried to make a game.
Oh well... I'll probably get it as soon as I have money anyway.

I wonder if this would be playable on dialup with 2player coop games. I'd try but Valve pulled the demo, assholes. :(

Man, I bought this before launch, so I've got it, but I have not gotten the time to actually play it yet, only like the first stage, the part thats included in the demo :p

Scrap that; played it for some time, almost all of the first campaign I believe, and I had alot of fun, despite playing with some strangers on the internet. Just found out my friend bought it, so will play some with him, should be a blast.

I played the demo with a friend on split-screen and it looked good, but maybe for a rental at most.

The zombies are pretty intense.
That's the problem with heroes, really. Their only purpose in life is to thwart others. They make no plans, develop no strategies. They react instead of act. Without villains, heroes would stagnate. Without heroes, villains would be running the world. Heroes have morals. Villains have work ethic.

Boooooo amazon. Might won't arrive until Monday. How gay is that?

I only justified buying this cause i found it for £30 on xbox. I wouldn't pay £40 for it. I see it getting boring fast. Only 10 weapons. 20 maps but you can do a map in 10 minutes. and if its anythign liek TF2 on the xbox, no downloadable content or upgrades unlike the pc version.

All these complaints?! Why am i even buying it?

Cause theres nothign like screaming down the microphone like a little girl "OH JESUS ITS GOT ME HELP ME JESUS CHRIST" :D
Current Games: Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead, Rockband 2, Red Alert 3 (PC)[/center]

I've played games with just as little content and they've lasted me for years, the multiplayer feeling will carry this game through it's paces.
