However, I don't like Evangelion.

Just wanted to agree with you there. I watched the Neon Genesis Evangelion series and movies last summer. I totally got into the characters, but then the ending was very unsatisfying and hard to make any sense out of. If you do watch Evangelion, be warned that the series lacks proper closure in many ways.

In the matter of fact, Evangelion have two endings. First one was done with low budget and hasty, other was done with time. Both are quite confusing, so I've heard.

There was thread about animes somewhere, there you shall find good recommendations about quality anime... Personally, I'm otaku if someone. But hey, one must start somewhere. They are like drugs... Gotta watch more, one episode more and then another etc.

The end of Evangeliong (wasn't that a movie) was very confusing.

The end of Evangeliong (wasn't that a movie) was very confusing.

Neon Genesis Evangelion was a series with 26 episodes. There are also two movies available: Death and Rebirth, and The End of Evangelion.

Death and Rebirth has two parts. The first part is sort of like a review of the entire series. The next part is actually the first part of End of Evangelion, I guess it is like a teaser for the next movie.

The End of Evangelion is a movie which re-does the last two episodes of the series. So yes Gravehill, there are two endings, the way the series originally ended, and the altrenate ending shown in End of Evangelion. The movie ending is better produced, and different things happen, but the general "wierdness" of the ending is the same.

If I remember correctly they did the first one as detailed above and then angry fans made them do another ending. But fans disappointed on latter one as well, 'cause "it arouses more questions than it answers"...

EDIT: It's still quite nice serie... Not my favourite, but still OK.

Okay, maybe I'm going to say just one more thing about Evangelion.

You probably should see it anyway, just so you can understand references to it. It is actually the only anime I have ever seen all the way through, and I see little jokes and references to it here and there on the internet, and it's nice to "be in the know."

Just be prepared for a frustrating ending.

I liked Evangelion and the end too. Sure the ending is confusing but I like brainfuck and how you have to figure things out by yourself. This weekend I think I'll watch the movies.

Some favorite animes:
Excel Saga (Funny and crazy.)
Ninja Scroll (Movie)
All studio Ghibli movies
Serial Experiment Lain
Wolfs Rain (Although this animes character development was disappointing.. but hey.. I love wolves !)
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Chobits
Berserk (Haven't finished this one yet.. It rules !)

.......
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex is quite good series and Jungle Wa.. Hale Notchi Guu or something like that is another nice funny anime. Haven't yet seen Trigun except for few episodes and I think it might become my favorite anime ever. Also need to see Hellsing..
