Ok, decided to post on the original topic, and so I felt it fair to reopen the thread. Not12x still lost the Star Trek discussion (even if I agree with her - Star Trek is no good - there's still no discussion, and any Star Trek discussion I see in this thread will be mercilessly deleted).

Anyways, on the subject of the WiTricity, I'd like to point out a problem my second cousin made me aware of, quite some time ago. The technology to make electricity wireless is already there, it's just manipulation of electrical fields. However, you wouldn't want to live around all these fields. The health effects can be rather negative.

EDIT: Hmm, actually that was mentioned in the article. Damn. I'm still not so sure about it.

If you knew the chemicals involved in the Dry Cleaning process, you wouldn't want to live within half of a mile of one of those places, but people do anyways.

Point being, unless it makes your skin melt and hair turn orange, people will be all OMG SHINY over wireless electrical fields.
