Your first metal band *holy horns*
« on: April 13, 2007, 02:49:50 am »
That Linkin Park topic got me thinking about my first metal band..

I think the first one I loved was Fear Factory almost a decade ago. A friend had a CD from Kerrang with the track Edgecrusher on it, and I fell in love.. (you don't want the know about the crap I listened to before then) I remember when I first heard Edgecrusher played in a club years later, I went crazy. :P

Second love was maybe Coal Chamber, a little more cheesy I know..

What about you retardsguys?

Well if you consider Linkin Park to be a metal band then that would be it. The first REAL metal band I ever heard was Rhapsody though and MaSu very soon after. Those two bands opened up the entire metal world to me.
What meaning has my life that the inevitability of death cannot destroy it?

Aye. Ye be welcome.

Quiet you. Since then I've introduced you to way more metal bands than you ever did me.

Early Metallica (Master of Puppets, I think), due to heavy influence by my older brother. Loved a few songs, got tired of it and put the whole metal thing on the shelves, found an old mix-tape made for me by my brother a couple of years later and was instantly hooked again.

Second metal band? hmm, tricky. Methinks it was power metal of some kind, prolly (gah!) Rhapsody. Then Blind Guardian followed suit, and then I discovered Iron Maiden, which I still have an unhealthy amount of fascination for.

Yes, but you forget: I'm a lazy bastard.

And it was Rhapsody followed shortly by MaSu for me.

If you wanna count Linkin Park, then yeah...

... does Slipknot count?
That's the problem with heroes, really. Their only purpose in life is to thwart others. They make no plans, develop no strategies. They react instead of act. Without villains, heroes would stagnate. Without heroes, villains would be running the world. Heroes have morals. Villains have work ethic.

Linkin Park? Trivium? Slipknot? Shit dudes, stop making me feel OLD.

Depends what we mean by metal really though.

I was listening to Guns n Roses since I was 9 or 10... I started getting in to the Sisters of Mercy and NIN by the time I was 12. I dunno who the first real METAL band would have been as such... possibly Metallica or Sepultura around age 12/13...

Not a metal band but Frank Klepacki's soundtracks for C&C Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert is what started me on music. Someone I knew who also liked the OSTs recommended Rammstein and I have been on the holy quest for moar metuhl since then.

My first metal band wasn't the first band I idolised. Nah, my first one was Mansun.
<----- Old skool Indie kid

Anyway, if you can call this band metal, my first metal band that I liked was Papa Roach.
The first metal band that I idolised, though, was Powerman 5000.
The first real metal that I got into was MaSu.
