I'm glad i lived in a closet until a year or so ago. :P

Linkin Park will always have a special place in my heart as they were the first band I ever listened to and loved. Back when I was an angsty 12 year old I would listen to their music over and over...

Same, actually. First "metal" band that I ever listened to :)

Why would not listening to a shit band be considered living in a closet?

Nah, you said you'd never heard of them, which frankly must be impossible unless you locked yourself in a closet since 2000. Not listening to them is different from not hearing of them.

Or i just didn't read/watch/see the media that covered them. :)

Just because i haven't spent the past five years listening to the stuff you guys have apparantly known all your life doesn't mean I've lived in a closet. :P

I liked Linkin Park up until I read this article on Blabbermouth.

Clickies.

But for those of you who don't wanna click the link, I'll just post it here.

Quote
Jeff Vrabel of Billlboard magazine recently spoke to the members of LINKIN PARK about the group's new album, "Minutes to Midnight", due on May 15 via, Warner Bros.

"There's still a hip-hop element to us, and there'll always be," LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington told Billboard. "But we've really moved away from anything that sounds like nu-metal. I know that we kind of helped create, I guess, the sound of that genre, but I hate that genre. I'm not going to speak for everyone, but I can personally tell you that I am not a big fan of almost everybody in that category. There are a few bands that I don't really believe belong in there, and we're one of those bands."

"Minutes" was assembled during the past year in producer Rick Rubin's Laurel Canyon, California, mansion; you may remember it from such albums as the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' "BloodSugarSexMagik".

"Rick said, right away, whatever we thought LINKIN PARK fans wanted to hear, whatever we thought we were labeled, whatever we thought we had to write, just to throw it all away. None of it mattered," Bennington recalled.

Rubin also dialed down the band's tendency toward what MC Mike Shinoda called "perfectionism," eschewing overdubs and polishing in favor of a rawer, more live sound. Drummer Rob Bourdon said that after spending weeks tweaking the drum production on one track, he was stunned when Rubin told him to scrap it all and use the demo version instead.

Bennington added, "Around Christmas of last year, I was getting impatient. Like, 'Man, is this thing ever going to end?' But it was definitely worth the time and energy we put into making the album."

Brilliant how you hate your own music.
There's a thin line between being a hero and being a memory.

Doesn't mean he hates his own music. He said himself that he doesn't believe Link Park belongs in the Nu Metal genre which might be a fair statement seeing as they pretty much did create the groundwork for it. It might be that he wants to distance them from the kind of bands that now receive that classification.

I know I would if I were in the same genre as Limp Bizkit.
