Its completly redesigned from the bottom up. Once you learn how it works and what the thought was behind it its actually very smart. Everything has gotten more acessible.

I prefer Open Office nowadays. Have anyone tried it? When considering of upgrading to Office '07 it would be worth effort to try Open Office - it's free so there's nothing to lose. I tried it once and I wont change back to Office unless forced to do so with axe or something.

Got a copy of the Office '07 beta a while back, and hated it. Mostly because I'd wanted one I knew how to use, and the project was due in a few hours.

I think very few who's getting office software for other than financial (or pro) use would pay for that junk anyway. Personally I never liked Office, I used Word Perfect and other similar softwares when they still were around. When Open Office came I wanted to try it and noticed that it suited my tastes better. Only downside has been lack of support of odt files in Office but I can always save my works at other formats if I need to use them in someplace where Open Office is not around. I installed portable version of Open Office to my USB-stick just in case. Portable version is slower but still good enough for me, better than Office ran from the HD. It's a matter of taste, of course.

WONDERTWIN POWERS, ACTIVATE
That's the problem with heroes, really. Their only purpose in life is to thwart others. They make no plans, develop no strategies. They react instead of act. Without villains, heroes would stagnate. Without heroes, villains would be running the world. Heroes have morals. Villains have work ethic.

Office 2007 saves your documents in a compressed state, calling it .Docx.
The file extension however makes it near impossible to open with older word versions.

Is there a way to save it as a normal word document?

There is. I had a beta of it before I got Office 2003 on this computer. I couldn't figure out how to use half of the features, though...
