Famous Relatives?
« on: January 15, 2007, 06:28:06 am »
My (step) Uncle is Gaston Caperton, former Governer of West Virginia. He is the current head of the college board (which means we get tie-ins with all the college principles ;))
My Aunt (now his wife) Is Idit Harel Caperton, creator of popular kids site http://www.mamamedia.com/
My Uncle (her ex-husband) is David Harel, Famous Professer of math and science in Israel.

I'm pretty sure thats it. I find it funny that half my family have wikipedia entries ;D
(not really half, but whatever)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaston_Caperton
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idit_Harel_Caperton
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_harel

BTW, if you can trace those back to me and find out who I am, I will give you an internet than change my name.

I have fewer famous relatives and more relatives who know famous people. Although, my uncle was written about in a medical journal for getting a strange disease, and my dad's cousin wa son Survivor.
That's the problem with heroes, really. Their only purpose in life is to thwart others. They make no plans, develop no strategies. They react instead of act. Without villains, heroes would stagnate. Without heroes, villains would be running the world. Heroes have morals. Villains have work ethic.

My friend's mom had actual relations with kevin costner. for an extended period of time. He went with them on a trip once and they stayed in a suite with televisions in the bathrooms! insanity.

My cousin is an opera singer, has done some high-profile stuff on the east coast, but not wikipedia-worthy yet.

I'm told i have like a half-step-aunt 4.5 times removed who is a reasonably famous writer of some sort, but it could all be bullhonky.

Not really. My great great grandfather is rather famous in Swedish medicinal history. He was some saintly doctor who helped the poor in Norrland in the 19th century.
Nothing compared to two of my best friends, one who can trace his lineage back to Sweden's most famous pirate/privateer, Lars Gathenhielm (Lasse i Gatan) and the other having an aunt named Carola Häggkvist (one of Swedens most famous artists).

My uncle is one of the best RC gliderplane fliers in the world. He even held a world record for speed for a short time.

Too bad flying RC planes isn't a more popular sport, or he might have been rich and famous...However, he has a lot of rich and/or famous friends.

If I'm not mistaken, my great or great great grandfather has a road in Sandnes named after him. It's not so much that he was famous as that he was rich, though.

One of mine was a viking.
