At least you can see Superman laser things?

Although, not nearly as entertaining if adversaries aren't melting while he does.
That's the problem with heroes, really. Their only purpose in life is to thwart others. They make no plans, develop no strategies. They react instead of act. Without villains, heroes would stagnate. Without heroes, villains would be running the world. Heroes have morals. Villains have work ethic.

they're trying to bring everyone to the same playing field as well as keeping it more physical and dare i say "realistic" while maintaining the super-humanity of the characters. superman will have some plot device applied to him to make him balanced..

this is according to an interview with a developer i watched back when it was announced.

I take back what I said, it'll be boring without decapitation.
But if one day we meet together while I'm drunk, I promise you to draw a big group sex picture including a lot of forumites. :D

The real reason would be then that DC didn't want their precious characters to be mutilated. Lamers.

Scorpion pulls a spike of kryptonite from his pocket and plunges it into Superman's face!

Brutalities are fine with me. As long as it's the old style "punch your enemy repeatedly until they exlpode" kind.
