Very good idea! Maybe you should contact Abyss that you are willing to play there again.  ::)

That comment really warms my heart. I hope Machinae Supremacy can play a gig in Finland really soon. Please try to come to Assembly 2003.

I don't think Machinae should come to assembly'03.

The great Machinae spirit would just be ruined by A bunch of CS-kiddies watching porn and listening to Jessica Folcer or whatever. Once again they shrank the size of the demoscene area. Assembly is slowly turning into a -HUGE- CS/Q3 Lan... *sob*

I'd really love to see Machinae in finland, though. Maybe visiting some other demopary????

well i dont think so all the machinae fans in the front row where sceners :) And true demoscene got smaller but the cs kiddies brings the money for the prices and stuff and gets sponsors or whatever and we can yell more "kuaket pois" stuff and get the biggest awards. CS and other games wont ever get awards like winning the demo combo. :)

Just like TheGathering. I was there in '96 where it still was mainly demoscene. But the gaming section (Warcraft / C&C) had a little fitting part of it. (I played some C&C and got to know a lot of players, between my sessions on  the ScreamtrackerIII.2) It was announced as the largest internet café in the world. I didn't use the net back then, I was more there for the scene.

But when I got back in '98, it was all changed. It'd got a section for gaming competition, and the script-kiddies, chatters, gamers and other lamers (like the "I'm '133+ coz I have some m*********ing large speakers that can be heard across the whole area.") Some people was just chatting on the irc. I mean what's the point? I went there mainly because I want to meet people I know from all parts of Norway and watch the demos and such. Not doing what I could do at home any day.

I've always said that the whole uniqueness of computer hacking has gone down the drain because now "everyone" uses a computer. That's why I've started using the C64 again. Not many of those '133+ scriptkiddies/gamers/lamers that even know what that is.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

A guy from our school, after hearing me and several other people from our group talking about asm'03, said that he would not go becouse:
"Siellä on kaikki compot ihan paskoja, just jotain c64 juttuja, jollain kahdella pikselillä ja paskoilla äänillä.." and "mä voisin mennä sinne jos siellä pelattas vaan CS:ää ja kuuneltas trancee"

Translation "all the compos suck, with c64 stuff, with two pixels and shitty soundtrack" and "I could go there if it was just playing CS and listening to Trance"

Another remark was made, by the so-called "computer experts" of the first-year students: "Why the hell would anyone go to the demoscene area? Those guys are the worst lamers of them all..."  It's getting really sad. Fortunately sceners have noticed this, and have been starting new scene-only events, and old scene-only events like altparty and lobotomia are still strong...

It would just be cool to have that kind of huge demoscene event in finland too. But now the area of the demoscene area is not even 50% of the partyplace...

NEVER LOSE HOPE...

I certainly hope that Machinae shall come to Assembly 2003 'cause I'm planning to go there this year with 2 of my pals. I think it's sad 'cause I've heard stories as above too.

Little test: If someone ask you about "what is your favourite game on sixty-four?" you tell about
a) best game of C=64
b) best game of N64

There is only one Sixtyfour (and it's not Beatles' "When I'm...". It was pretty fun but I think that song came along with some cbm keyboard at 80's. Anyone recall name of the keyboard? I thought then it was hilarious!

Yeah, don't get me wrong. I'd love to see Machinae at the Assembly. It's just that most of the people there would not appreciate any of it. They'd just put on their headphones and listen to some more girl-pop, or the newest boy-band...

OOOHHH!!! I know this is totaly off topic, but our local (pirate)radio station is playing NOFX and No Shame. I'll call them and ask them to play the Knob too...

Ok, so where were we? Right! Do you have computer places, or just entry tickets. If you do have computer places, where are you located? (Please don't say that you got tickets in the oldskool area, I tried to but I didn't get one, now I'll have to work on my compoentries next to Q3... *sob*)?
