a few days ago i bought a guitar off ebuyer.com. it cost me £58 including shipping, and came with a bag, spare strings, a pick, and a 10 watt amp.

i was expecting the shittest guitar in the history of the world, and i was pleasently surprised. it actually plays like it's worth £150-£200. now THAT is value for money ;D

In thaaat case... I might have a look on t'internets when i get home :)

GAARLIC BREAD? GARLIC? on bread?

stfu

Sorry :(

I bought my first guitar when i was 14, it was a Yamaha Pacifica with a 40watt amp...amp only cost me 20 squid and works to this day

Ermmm i think it must have been 80 or something

I got the guitar in Central London and bought the amp second hand, never bothered with a strap etc. sitting down seemed to make so much more sense and i wanted to play classically so i never bought pics

Nahh was in a big sale, apparently it was a closing down sale but they sold so much afterwards they just moved to a smaller location and carried on the business

Lucky..

Does it really make any difference if you go for a big guitar brand like Fender or Jackson etc?

Brand names mean nothing, it's the guitar what matters, i think SG just got lucky with his guitar, you really should try a few before hand just for the ergonomics and aesthetics (might mean the same thing i'uno)

Now I'm earning money I need a friggin hobby besides computer games..

So I decided im buying a guitar. I've only played guitar once at a friends place and I was pretty shit, but I'm willing to learn and I'm pretty enthusiastic about it, because I really need a hobby :/

So, my question to you is, what guitar should I get? What are the price ranges? What about amps?

I earn £725 a month, pay £200 to my mum for housekeeping, and I'm paying about £150 towards a Wii in December from my wages, so that leaves me with £375 to buy a guitar and an amp. (And I also want to save some of that money too, because I'm planning on buying a new pc - so.. .say... £150-200 (£200 being the very maximum
I'd reckon you're goign to play some kick ass metal.

Go with the Ibanez GIO series. They're around 200, or 199,95 or something.

Anyhoo, try to get an ibanez anyway. Preferably extended fretboard and a tremolo.
If you're not going with ibanez, go wih Epiphone. Awesome guitars for less money.

Don't get a strato/telecaster. They suck so bad for metal ;)

So? You're learning. Not playing anything amazing JUST yet.
