Machinae Newbie
« on: October 06, 2006, 05:46:04 pm »
Hey all,

Just happend to stumble upon these guys through a random playing on the last.fm player! I cant believe there is a bad that uses the SID chip in their music, and in decent music too!

Anyway I think its great and will be buying the Deus Ex album shortly....whats the new Redeemer album like? Does it hae more SID samples in the tracks because that would be cool!

Redeemer is a little less SID-based, but the track "Seventeen" has quite a bit of the sound.

By degrees we beheld the infinite abyss, fiery as the smoke of a burning city;
Beneath us, at an immense distance, was the sun, black but shining.

To me, Redeemer still has alot of Sid but it's heavier in general. It's used as more of a support to the guitar, but it's defenitely there. If you like what you've heard, Redeemer is an excellent album and you'll enjoy it.

I loved Dues Ex Machinae, but I think I like Redeemer even more.

Both albums are worth every penny.

Not really, it's just less noticable. The stand alone SID from songs like Winterstorm and Killer Instinct is replaced by a suportive SID, which sounds more harmonious. That said, get every Masu album you can get, coz they all kick ass  ;D

I actually preferred Deus Ex Machinae, but Redeemer is still my second favorite album in my 10+ gig (100 + albums and still growin) collection, if you want SiD go for Deus Ex Machinae, but Redeemer is still amazing about every song is amazing on both albums. But get the Underground for Redeemer, Kaori Stomp and Fury two of my favorite songs are non-existant on the Retail edition plus its twice as big, though Retail will have remastered Ghost (my favorite song).

Yes, really. Compare DXM to Redeemer SiD wise. There is alot less.

well ive bought both cds now, and I think there is just as much SID in redeemer if you listen hard enough.

best track so far has to be Oki Kuma's Adventure - i cant stop listening to it!!

Much of the Synth in Redeemer is not SiD. You know, just because MaSu use SiD, it doesn't mean they're limited to just that.

This is very true, I love Redeemer like a child, but I want the next album to be more Deus Ex Machinae - esque.

Well it has been said that they're going to focus more on SID and less on alternate synth/effects.

Yeah. Personally, I'm hoping for something like a MaSu-ised FLAK with more varied rythms, filled to the brim with extremely aggressive SiD.

And I'm hoping for a progrock/metal epic with 20-minutes-longtracks, mellotron and flute solos (well okay, i'd survive without the flute solos), but what's the chance for that? ^^

Rob's already confirmed the songs will be:

1- Less "epic" due to the clearer sound
2- Heavier
3- Less SiD noticable in most songs, but there will be 1 or 2 SiD-based tracks.

This is from memory of irc, so correct me if i'm wrong.

Less SiD makes me very sad, but heavier sounds good (I like it either way).

MORE SiD PLZ!!!
