The first thing you'll notice is vocalist Robert Stjarnstrom's strange voice. For a good picture of what he sounds like, imagine Adam Lazzara, plus some balls, and he hails from northern Europe.

Its completely geektastic, and yet somehow manages to rock harder than anything Metallica have put out for twenty years.

For all the blistering guitar work, ferocious drumming, and operatic vocals, the thing that truly makes everything so wonderful and, well, delicious, is the marvelous tones that come out of the SidStation. It also helps that everyone else pretty much owns face at their instrument.

Some of the better descriptions I've seen.

But yeah, he says that Jonne plays all the guitar, and that Poe was the bassist on Redeemer, although he does rightly point out that the bass tends to be shunted aside in Machsup songs. (Sidstyler is a notable and enjoyable exception)

And it's interesting that he still makes a heavy gaming/SID connection despite the relative dearth of SID on that particular album, without even mentioning preious songs like Great Giana Sisters.

Good that some recognition is being given.

When RRE comes out, let's hope there will be more reviews of this kind, perhaps even in some bigger newspaper (I know for example that Swedish major paper DN has quite good coverage of underground music, as far as major newspapers go anyway, and they relatively often cover interesting oddities, which MaSu surely would count as in their eyes).

Machinae Supremacy have released what is arguably the best album of the year in a little album entitled Redeemer.

Arguably? Pft! there is no doubt.

Nifty review. :)

Edit: Not that anyone cares or will read the comments, but I did leave one to answer some questions other people seemed to have. As well as to note the corrections about the guitars/kahl. :P
