Machinae Supremacy in your town this summer?
« on: November 12, 2003, 09:56:28 pm »
We need your help. In order to put together a promo pack for distributors and booking agencies, we need to know club and festival names in your home town or if you just happen to know a place somewhere else, where the Machinae Supremacy brilliance could shine.

There's no need to check with the clubs or similar, just simply if you believe Machinae Supremacy could play at this particular place you let us know.

Thanks.

Ill do my best, btw I live in Sydney, Austrlia, but I reckon what you need to do is to get some radio air time before you start playing at big events such as livid or Big Day Out. Although I reckon they might give new talent a go.

For festival names goto Tripple J, the click "the gig guide". Also send tripple J one of your best sample songs and you'll probably get on the radio. I was just having a look on the tripple J website, you can even promote you'r event there if you need a bit of advertising.

A few local clubs I would promote are : (I would be stoked if you got a gig at either one)
Carmens
and
Northies

In Kuopio we have only two summer festival:

Kuopio tanssii ja soi:
http://www.kuopiodancefestival.fi/english/index2en.html
Music and dance. Assorted festival, mostly classic stuff. International (artists come around world)

Kuopio Wine Festival:
http://www.kuopioinfo.fi/english/perussivut/muut_sivut/tapahtumat.php?tulosta=1
There is wine-theme for every year. Mostly finnish artists, but foreigner artists too. Nice spirit here ;D

...And three possible places where play:

Henry's Pub:
http://www.henryspub.net/
Mostly finnish bands play here. Small place but quite nice. Rock club.

Wanha Satama:
http://www.wanhasatama.net/main.html
Kuopio wine festival takes place here. Some band plays almost every evening. Nice.

Hotel Puijonsarvi:
http://www.travel.fi/fin/Puijonsarvi/
Various bands from various countries. Nice music here. Big dance floor.

That's it. Some finn could collect some finnish summer festivals and happenings (like Ruisrock, DBTL, Assembly etc...) here. Finland is so small country that it would be no big problem to check the gig whether it be on Oulu, Jyväskylä, Turku or Helsinki as long one would have enough time to plan (couple of months)...

Festival at my town, Imatra:

Imatra Big Band Festival. http://www.ibbf.fi/eng/index.htm
"The Imatra Big Band Festival is specially jazz festival in Finland with a particular emphasis on the music of large orchestras. Besides that it offers plenty of events also for smaller top ensembles and artists from all over of the world."

Altough it's mainly a jazz festival, many rock bands play there also. Here's few locations where they usually play:

Woodoo. No website available yet.

Thanks for your suggestions, guys... Too bad so few people helped out here... I'm sitting now, compiling a very tiny suggestion list of venues for our promo pack that is about to go out to distributors etc... Hopefully it'll work out anyway. The promo pack goes out in a week.

hope its not too late...

www.readingfestival.com always have cool new talent playing during the day and its great exposure to the whole european music scene, ive seen waaay worse bands play this festival than machinae.

http://www.the-limelight.co.uk is a local alt music club that has hosted big names like fear factory (sepultura are playing in june) and also local bands you wont have heard of - Booking a gig there should be no problem at all (unless u count getting there as a problem but hey, u can crash on my floor) and theres a Machinae cult in Belfast who'd LOVE to see you there!

You thank us?  :D Just a tiny possibility that you might throw a gig in my town sends chills down my spine... I've thought this little and came to a conclusion that it's quite easy for you to do tour in Finland - you can drive our land from north to south (or south to north if you are coming back) and do gig on couple places. Then it's easy to continue by ship to Estonia, Sweden, Norway or even Germany. And it's not too hard to do a little sidestep to Russia either. So you can do your gig by car or buss quite easily.

I'm quite surprised too that there was so little answers to this question. maybe all those loyal fans did not realize that this is REAL opportunity to get you live on their "backyards"? I thought that when reading couple of other posts there was huge interest for live gigs on England, Ireland and Germany. And USA too... (WAKE UP, W!)

I'm not sure why, but I thought you were interested in Scandinavian / European cities for this post mainly. These are (some) places that could possibly book you even a year in advance or more...

Here are 30 very popular music festivals all over the states (some aren't rock, but most are); INSERT INTO yabbse_messages (ID_MSG, ID_TOPIC, ID_MEMBER, subject, posterName, posterEmail, posterTime, posterIP, smiliesEnabled, modifiedTime, modifiedName, body, icon, attachmentSize, attachmentFilename) VALUES and there's also an international list that includes 12 cities in the UK, Scotland, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany...even Sweden and Finland, hehehee. Austria and Germany as well, but I'm sure you know most of those places already:

Alternative labels..?

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (mostly L.A. and Hollywood)

From WWW RIOT:

93X Fest Tribute Page
A Tribute To The Annual Metal/Alternative Music Frenzy In Sommerset, WI.

I've been to many of the festivals listed at
http://www.erock.net/festivals.html
Many of them are close to where I am.
Hot August Nights in Reno, Nevada would love you guys and people come from everywhere to that week long festival. It also has a biker rally annually that draws tens of thousands of people.

The Burning Man Festival

This one is a must if you come to the states, it's awesome! We get to dance nude or topless, and do whatever we want!

"There are no rules about how one must behave or express one's self at this event (save the rules that serve to protect the health, safety, and experience of the community at large)"

PERFORMANCES:

Here's the info on it:

Thank you Wintress, I'll note those down in the list...

TuX, tomas is working on getting us a gig in Övertorneå, so it's quite likely we'll end up there sometime in the near future.  :)

This is my first post, so just thought I'd say "hi", and "you rock" ;)

[cough] [cough] Sorry, I'm late. But a giant octopus held me captive in its cave during the last months. (nöööt! That's: Hello, I'm back, you fools! ;) )

So I know I might be just a little too late. Like a man who catches his bus a little too late but keeps bangin' against the door, not realizing, that it's already shut. Anyway, I nearly never go to concerts, but here is a piece of my very puny wisdom about the locations in Hamburg, Germany.

First there is the Schlachthof - which means something like slaughterhouse. Been there once. 's not too bad, maybe room for a hundred and fifty people or so. It's a place for bands with the reputation level of the Donots or so.. but less known bands get to play also. Their website seems to be out of order at the moment and a useless flash 'movie' plays there. Anyway, you can get a little piece of information about their played bands and address elsewhere.

And then there is the Logo. Never been in it myself, but it seems like a place for rather unknown bands. I think I never saw a band name I knew on their wall. Anyway just don't get me wrong - it isn't a "just-for-your-local-school-band" hut. Bands who play there played somewhere else too before.. I think. ;)

Sorry, I know that wasn't a big help but I'm not familiar enough with the local alternative band locations. The Schlachthof should be a name to keep in mind though. Hopefully the others will have more information about their home cities.
