i think i have them all, except the handheld ones after GBA

You mean you haven't got a DS?? Go get one, NOW!

And to get back to the subject, if there were more games for the 360 that I wanted to play, I'd buy one. Right now all I want to play on the 360 are Dead Rising and Oblivion (which I have for PC already...), meaning that only Dead Rising would be a reason for me to buy one.

I never got handheld consoles... i've always enjoyed talking and socialising when going on holiday etc. even on the plane, no matter how weird the guy, or how ever much he picks his nose i will chat to him.

There's ES4: Oblivion, Quake 4(multiplayer is amazing online), Amped 3 (awesome snowboarding game, wacked out storyline though), Mass Effect ( being released by Bioware, the same people who did KoTR 1 and 2) and Too Human (The God of War for the 360). Though Too Human and Mass Effect are yet to be released, them alone are a reason to pick up the 360, plus theres  HALO 3 !!!

Oblivion, Quake 4 both online. Amped 3 I have no intreste in. The others aren't out.

So much for that.

get a 360, play it for a couple of hours, then come back and delete this thread.

kthxbai.

Maybe if there were more games than just Dead Rising worth playing.

Oblivion: Better on PC with mods and it runs better while looking better.
Quake 4: Better controls on PC and it runs better.
Amped 3: IMO inferior to all the SSX games.
Mass Effect: Just like KoTR 1 & 2 and Jade Empire it will probably end up on PC.
Halo 3: If it is anything like one or two I have absolutely no interest in yet another medicore (even for a console) FPS.

Having to buy a new GPU every 6-12 months isn't a big deal, niether is upgrading the rest of the system every 2-3 years or throwing in some more ram every year. Not a bad trade off for a superior experiance and games.

Yes. I'll gladly play on the PC if you'd be willing to upgrade all of ours. <<
That's the problem with heroes, really. Their only purpose in life is to thwart others. They make no plans, develop no strategies. They react instead of act. Without villains, heroes would stagnate. Without heroes, villains would be running the world. Heroes have morals. Villains have work ethic.

I'm an apprentice, I don't make a lot of money. If I can afford regularly upgrading a gaming PC and buying consoles, anyone can. All you have to do is set your priorities right. Alcohol, women, cars and shit like that are all huge wastes of money that could go towards your gaming budget.

Just for perspective, the parts that change the most regularly (in CAD):

New motherboard, changed with CPU and sometimes RAM every 2-3 years: $100-150
New CPU, changed with motherboard and sometimes RAM every 2-3 years: $200-400
New GPU, changed every 6-12 months or maybe 1.5 years: $350-400
New RAM, sometimes changed with motherboard/CPU every 2-3 years, otherwise some more tossed in maybe 1-2 years: $100-200

What else would you be spending this money on? DVDs (Anime, Sci-Fi, etc), music (moar metuhl!), games? Perhaps saving it in the bank to spend on as many PS3s as possible to ebay for great profit? It isn't exactly a lot of money, even when making a sad ~$20k or so a year working full time while living at home. (For the record, this seems to be about the same everyone else my age or little older I know makes every year working full time and sitting around gaming in their spare time.) Four to eight years down the road when I probably will make ~85k/yr or better it will seem very insignificant.

And for the record, I do buy consoles on top of that. I just hook them up to my monitor/speakers and sit in my same chair at my desk with no need or desire for a HDTV or couch or yet another set of speakers. However, looking back they seem like a waste of money. I hardly owned any games for the majority of them. I bought the n64 for all of two games: Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. Playstation I bought back when I still had a p120 and probably owned not more than 15 in it's entire lifespan. Playstation 2 I bought (preordered) expecting lots of good games only to find the SSX series and Devil May Cry; I honestly can't think of anything else on it I find remotely interesting. I mean, there were a few RPGs but most of them are the boring turn based japanese ones that are insanely aggrivating to play (gameplay wise) to try and 'enjoy' the story. I never bought a gamecube as it only had one game I wanted on it and I can pick that up on a Wii soon. Never bought a dreamcast, absolutely zero games of interest. Never bought an Xbox, what games of interest there were (KOTOR/Fable/Riddick) were all ported to PC. No Xbox 360 so far as it only has one game that interests me somewhat: Dead Rising and it hardly falls in the must have kind of area for me. Will I buy a Wii? Probably, I'd like to play that one gamecube game (Eternal Darkness) and it has two or three games that interest me so far (Red Steel, that gothic game in black and white and another SSX). PS3? Not likely, the only game that interested me is Assassin's Creed but it was annouced as being a PC title as well; There is also the new MGS, but I'm sure I'll hate the gameplay like past ones and I don't know if I can justify the time and suffering just for the story.

Basically all the games that I like fall into genres that tend to work out better on PC or aren't popular enough to be released on consoles these days: RTS with a good story and/or super amazing gameplay, RPGs that don't involve turn based battle systems produced by crazy grind enjoying Japanese people who tend to have lame stories and uninteresting characters, Adventure (This genre is what, almost entirely dead now?), Space-Sim/Shooter/Adventure (Again, seems pretty damn dead), Action (FPS and 3rd person shooters) with an engaging story and fun gameplay (Must be one out of a hundred or less with all these boring mindless shooters these days), whatever the hell genre Sim City falls in, and I'd list racing but the only ones I ever liked were Need For Speed with the cops and exotic cars before EA raped the series in the name of profit and popular culture. None of those tend to grace consoles except racing (NFS and since the orginal up to 5 the console versions have been inferior in every aspect).
